The Catalina Island Museum will be hosting legendary actor Mickey Rooney Saturday, June 26th 2004. He will be sharing his experiences shooting films on the island. As well as sharing his famous movie 'You're Only Young Once' at the large art deco Casino Theater.

As well the 17th Annual Silent Film Benefit will be held, showing the classic 'The Iron Mask' starring Douglas Fairbanks. It will be played in the large Casino Theater, accompaniment by Robert Salisbury playing one of only four working page organs in the world!

Oh, that's kinda cool. I don't live that far from Avalon, but the cost of going there for just one day isn't worth it. (For those who don't know- Avalon is located in Catalina Island... a small island off the coast of Long Beach/Wilmington/San Pedro, CA.)

I've heard some pretty bad stories about people meeting him in person. He doesn't seem to be a very fan friendly person.

Me too.

But I have also heard that the venues he plays at always sell out. :eek: Ya never know...

I'd love to meet him. But living in Michigan, that's not too likely ;)

Like I said, ya never know. He DID come out to North Dakota - just last year, actually. He was in a really small town about one to two hours north of Bismarck, called Mott. He appeared at a venue that fit about 400 people, and it sold out quickly. :)

I saw him several years ago in "The Wizard of Oz" in Detroit.
