View Full Version : Name something electronic that you never had to REPLACE
TVFactFan 04-15-2004, 07:02 PM I have to say that I never had to replace my TV. I had it since 1989 and it has never ever given me any problems. I had the same TV all through highschool and college. Hope i don't jinx myself. So far it's 15 years and counting.
BTW-I replace VCR's and WAlkmans all the time.

MandieR1980 04-15-2004, 08:42 PM that's funny I can't think of anything, my Tivo? though I've only had it for 2 years
PZelda 04-15-2004, 09:05 PM Hmm.
1. My alarm clock. Have had it since the summer of 1999.
2. My VCR. Have had it since the spring of 1998.
3. My watch. Have had it since the fall of 1998. (Also the longest I've had a watch...I was in 8th grade when I got it. I'm in college now  )
4. My TV. I've had it since the spring of 1997.
Knock on wood. ;)
dawsongirl 04-15-2004, 09:46 PM Uh...not TVs. One blew a picture tube and another got hit by lightning.
Not VCRs...it was attached to the lightning rod TV.
Walkmans...those things I swear were built to break within a year.
This computer is a second...
I still have my first Boom Box/CD Player.
My DVDR is in the shop for the second time.
My cell phone isn't even my first.

VCR's! I've only ever had 2 but the reason I had to replace the first one is cause I let my aunt borrow it, then told her to keep it, and I bought a new one.

I've already gone through 2 VCRs and my TV is on its way out... but then again, I'm a film student. My movies are my life ;)
I've had the same clock radio since I began elemantary school. 16 years old and it still works fine. It does look increddibly 80s though!
Mr. Television 04-16-2004, 12:09 AM My alarm clock radio I've had since 1988.
Czas na Zywiec 04-16-2004, 12:38 AM I don't feel like typing it out again, so I'm just going to copy this from livejournal.

I am so unbelievable pissed off right now....UGH.
So I wake up this morning....and there's some splashes of water all over my desk. I'm like "What the hell?" as I try and see where the hell the water came from. Then I see my CD Player.....drenched in this water. The first CD Player that I got that I've had for about 8 years now. It's dead. I can't believe this. I know y'all are just going to say "GET THE HELL OVER IT. IT'S JUST A CD PLAYER!" Yea well, I'm attached to the thing. It's not that easy.
I've had it since I was in 6th grade, it's been to Poland with me three times now, London, and all over the US whenever our family went on vacations to Florida, Colorado, Mt. Rushmore, etc. I've dropped it so many times, but yet it's stayed in perfect condition since that one Christmas Eve when I picked it up from under the tree. No scratches on it whatsoever, and one sticker. It doesn't even have an anti-skip button, since it was made before those became popular, but that's what made it all the more special.
I know that my roommate had nothing to do with it because A) He gone all night and B) Me and him are too good friends to do anything this malicious to each other. Even if it was a prank, he agreed this would be going waaaay too far. And I don't see any leaks from the ceiling at all. The laser i moving back and forth pretty fast right now. Poor thing's probably trying to fix itself. Jak się kurwa dowjym kto to zrobił, wyjebiem te skurwysyny.
- sigh - But I guess I just have to get over it. Maybe this gives me the opportunity to buy that MP3 player I've been wanting. :/...
RIP Panasonic XBS (1996 - 2004)
I have one certain piece of electronic equipment that has fatihfully served me for over ten years but I can't mention it by name because with my luck the darn thing will burst into flames.
Hint: I watch shows on it, and it rhymes with "welevison."
;)
Kay Scarpetta 04-16-2004, 01:16 PM I haven't had to replace my cell phone.... yet. If I drop it one more time it'll probably break. There's a large chunk missing already on the bottom corner :o
Bang A Gong 04-16-2004, 01:18 PM Does battery operated and... uh... vibrating count? ;)
*MIBabe03* 04-16-2004, 01:52 PM Our television that is in our den. We've had it for 13 years. I think we are going to have to replace it soon though, the color looks crappy now.

Same with one of my dad's TV's. We got it in early 1989 (15 years ago now) and it's starting to go bad now. :(
