I haven't seen the last episode and I dont think I want to. I prefer to think Dan lived.

This is why I absolutely DESPISE the last episode. It sucks and it's so unrealistic. As far as I am concerned, Dan had a heart attack but survived. For me, the series pretty much ends after the lottery episode, with the exception of 1 or 2 episodes, that whole last season is horrible.

with the exception of the last episode part, i agree. i believe the series took a huge dump when they won the lottery. it was nothing like the series i loved, a poor family trying to survive with their kids, and sister. im glad its going back to start though, but i liked the middle of the series too. its a thing about me, i HATE the early part of th series, they are too young for comfort for me...but when get get olde (DJ like age 10-11), but not too old, is when i enjoy a series the best.

The last episode is just very sad to me, but i don't hate it. If she had to end it someway i think she did it best. I hated the idea that David was with Becky and Darlene with Mark though.
Every television show should not have a HAPPY JOY JOY cheesy ending.
I did not like the idea in the last episode though that Becky was pregnant, i mean come on that is dealing with the same subject too much, Darlene had just had Harris.
And i wasn't shocked about hearing Dan died.

i always felt that they would have been better together like that, since darlene/mark were kind of the rebel type as younger, and becky/david liked more of the girly stuff, seems they would have had more things in common thus would have been happier. but thats just me.

I like David/Darlene, Mark/Becky because opposites attract and I think they were more interesting that way.

yeah, when they won the lotto, it took everything away from what the show stood for. when the show started, up to season 8, it was almost brutally real, while poking fun at everyday life. when they won, they were going to spas and getting hijacked on trains, nobody could relate to that. i think it should have ended w/ dan in the hospital room and the whole family just being together.

I couldn't disagree more. Mark was hot and he looked better with Becky. I could understand his attraction to Becky. I couldn't see him being attracted to Darlene. I know it sounds awful, but looks are awfully important in relationships even if people downplay them for PC reasons.

I think that looks were never a real factor on this show.ust look at the cast

CharityandMiguel- have you heard that both are leaving Passions?

I agree with the fact that when they lost the lottery the main focus of the show was gone- a family struggling to make it. With that gone, they didn't have any good story lines left except for the whacky ones in Season 9. I didn't like the ending either. You almost feel happy for them when they won the lottery but then in the end, they're back to the basics. Had they not won the lottery, the last season could have been more interesting and meaningful while fulfilling the concept of the show about a blue collar family in middle America which a lot of us could relate to.

Well, yes and no. I think none of the actors were really good looking except Mark and Becky, but I think the characters cared about looks when it came to finding partners. I just couldn't see someone as hot as Mark wanting to be with Darlene, especially when she had that crappy attitude for a while. Then she had nothing to offer him.

Yes, I hope Charity and Miguel leave together and get the happy ending they deserve. :)

That was the only thing I liked about the end. I always thought Darlene and Mark were better suited for eachother, as were David and Becky. Everything else totally bummed me out.

If you think about it Roseanne set you up for the ending of the show throught the series...Remember the Becky/David crush in season 7. Jackie was supposed to be gay from the outset. This was Roseanne's way of making up to her sister I think. Any thoughts.

I didn't like Becky/David, Darlene/Mark either. That sucked. We were so used to it the other way around.

The last episode tied up a lot o loose ends, but I feel so sad that Roseanne never mentioned Crystal, Bonnie, Anne Marie and her family, but she does mention that she sent Arnie away on a space ship. It was gratifying to learn that Roseanne's ability to empower those around her through her writing was the exceptional standout in the show. She gave Nancy and Bev. a sense of identity. Nancy was a stronger indiviual when her marriage to Arnie ended. Jackie's and Bev's being gay, I believe, weren't there for the surprise value of the last episode, but rather, a means to give them more dimension. Dan dying is more "unfair" if anything else: Roseanne can't be Roseanne without Dan and vice versa. (When John Goodman was absent from any episode in the last season, it flt "Empty"withut him there.

I too wish they would have mentioned Crystal in the final episode. She was a big part of the show and I hated that she got pushed to the side when they brought the unfunny Nancy on board.

Mark and Darlene look good together? In her dreams! Mark was hot and could have gotten any girl he wanted. He would never go for Darlene's masculine type.

Crystal was not pushed aside. Natalie West chose to leave the series after the two part episode dealing with Dan's dad in season six to be a full time mother. That is why she was absent and she made a guest appearence in the first episode of the 8th season!

I think that Roseanne ended the show very well. It left everyone with their jaws open.

Think about it... when people saw the first episode, that was one of the only times that a white family was depicted as working class. America couldn't believe it. She wanted to end it the same way.

If you don't want to see Dan dying, and you want the show to have a happy ending, just watch part 1. But once you know what happens, you'll want to see part 2 anyway, just to see what the fuss is about.
