View Full Version : The one good thing the writers did for this show was no longer including the phrase-

DYNOMITE in the scripts after season 4. J.J no longer said dynomite once season 5 came around which was a good thing because the phrase became OLD and STALE. I wonder did the new J.J have something to do with Florida's depature after season 4. J.J had a full time job, no longer wore the dumb hat, and didn't say dynomite anymore. I'm guessing it did.

Esther quit because she was fed up with the JJ role dominating the show and she thought the character presented horrible stereotypes. In hindsight, she had a very valid point. JJ was very exaggerated in comparison to the others.

And i think all of that led to the new J.J. Notice how laid Back the J.J character was in the last two seasons. It shouldn;t have took Florida making a fuss before they changed the J.J character.

JJ was a big hit in the 70s and probably the reason the show was as popular as it was. I remember there being JJ trading cards, t-shirts and dolls all from the era when he wore the hat and turtleneck. He sure was funny looking though. In the first Penny episodes he had a perm.:D

Has anyone seen any of Jimmie Walker's other work? I have a vague memory of a military sitcom he was in in about 1983 that was like a Sgt Bilko type show. Also he was in Let's Do it Again in 1975 as the boxer. He really looked like a donkey in that film.

..how did y'all like him in Bustin Loose? He was gone down hill then. That show didn't interest me one bit.
