Didn't it seem as Fonzie was getting soft, in a way? I first known him as a gang member, but it seemed after he began chillin' with Richie, Potsie and ralph, he began to mellow out a bit. Who remembers him crying at Richie's hospital?

yes, especially around the middle - i believe thats why they changed to black t-shirts, and mostly kept the leather jacket halfway zipped up

Fonzie definitely had a middle age spread.

I think Fonzie got a bit too straight after Ritchie & Ralph left town.
I also think Fonzie just got emotional at the hospital, but one can be both cool & sensitive. He was certainly that!

he was tearing n choking up, kind of on the verge of crying. it all depends on how you interpret it.
