I look like my mother. I have her eyes, skin tone, hair, mouth, and teeth. I have her mother's facial structure (head shape and chin), and ears. The only features I got from my father are his nose and eyebrows. My brother, however, looks just like my dad.

I have blonde hair and blue eyes from my father's side of the family (Irish), but other than that, I take after my mother's side (Italian).

Wouldn't you think people would look like their mother since they are born from them? Here is my description. I have dark brown hair, light brown eyes, a light skin tone, and a round, but not fat, face. People say I look French.

I look like my mother's side. I have the same hair color, eye color, and features of my mother's side. In fact, I have been accused of being my uncle's (my mom's brother) son before! My sister looks a little more like my dad, but people also think she looks like her mom.

I don't look a whole lot like either of my parents, but I get my pale skin tone from my mother's side of the family. I also seem to have this genetic thing from that side where I never fall down the stairs- but ALWAYS fall up them. I get the thick/curly hair and height (just 5'2'') from my paternal grandmother. I have hazel eyes which I guess is from both since my mom has brown eyes and my dad has green. My dad and I are also the only ones in the family with reallyreally dark hair, I get it from him but we don't quite know where that comes from.

The poll indicates more of the respondents look like their dad, but the written responses say mothers. My hypothesis that eyes are what makes the resemblance is apparently wrong. My grandmother had my mother, who was a mixture, and another daughter, my aunt, who looks just like her. My aunt has green eyes and my grandmother has brown, yet they look alike. I actually look more like them than my mother. The three of us have what we call "blockheads", and we are proud of the resemblances.

I dont know. Bunch of people say I look just like my mother. Then you have the people who say I look just like my father. So, I dont know.

I look more like my dad, but I have my mom's personality...my sister's opposite...looks like my mom with my dad's personality. But that looking like them part is just the face...I'm built like my mom's side of the family, and my sister's like my dad's.

Our health teacher told us that boys normally look like their father and girls usually look like their mother. With most of the people I know and the people here, it is opposite. I read online that it is the opposite. She should get her facts straight before sharing them to the class. She also has told us other inaccurate facts, but oh well, I have the internet.

I have my mom's hair, though...But I strongly resemble my dad. In fact, one year, I compared a picture of myself from when I was 11 (1996) to when my dad was 11 (1965), and we looked EXACTLY the same. :eek: The only thing that was missing was that my dad didn't have glasses until he was in 9th grade, whereas I started wearing glasses when I was 4, in 1989. It was soooo scary. :eek:

It all comes down to science. Domaint genes will cover up the recessive genes...So if your dad has olive skin and your mom has fair skin, you are most likely to get your dad's olive skin...but if your mom has brown hair and your dad has blonde hair, you are likely to get your mom's brown hair...brown is more domaint than blonde...

And so on.

Dad's. I am tall like them, while my mom's side is shorter. I am, however, not overweight like most on my dad's side, yet anyway. :eek:

I really think that I look like both sides. I am always being told that I look so much like one of my sisters who looks like my Mom but I am also told that I look exactly like 2 of my brothers who take after my Dad. So I don't know!:crazy: :lol:

I look like my freakin grandmother on my mother's side. My mom doesn't look anything like her, but I have the pale skin, the blue eyes, the round Irish face, and the teeth of my grandmother.

Most people say I bear a strong resemblence to my father, especially when it comes to my dark hair, the light colored eyes and olive skin tone. But then I take after my mother, being petite and more curvatious.

Chromosomes determine whether the offspring is male or female. Genes determine personality and physical appearance.There are dominant and recessive genes.

What was it called again - the Punnett Table or Square - I think it was the Punnett Table? I had to do that in 7th and 10th grade science class, so I'm pretty sure you guys have had to do this at some point or the other. It really helps you understand how genes work in the long run (even tho I hate science). :)

My mother thinks I look like my dad. I once saw a pic of my mom in HS and I swear it looked like me. Freaky. But all in all, I don't think I look like either one of them.

We once compared mine and my dad's baby pics. They looked like the same baby.

People have always said that I look like my mom but neither of us can see it.

I don't look like my mother as a kid but I look exactly like her now. I look like her mother when she was my age and now. I showed some people a picture of my great grandmother (mom's mom's mom) and they could still see the family resemblance. My great grandmother looked just like her father, I can't wait to see what he looks like.

I take after my father's side in every way. The only thing I got from my mom was bad eyesight, and brown hair. I've got my dad's green eyes, and his nose. Also everyone in his family at one time, has been overweight. My little sister, however, takes after my mom's side. Brown hair, and thin.

i have almost all of my dad's features. i have his blond hair and blue eyes, his fair skin, his ears and nose. i have my mom's cheeks and chin.

I resemble my Dad's side the most because I am shy and look like him the most but somtimes I look like my mom

I think it's a toss up- although I have most the body structure of my Dad (ex: short waisted, more compact as appose to my Mom who is extremely skinny and long long waisted like my brother.) I have blue eyes from both sides... I'm short waisted, have a rounder face, bigger teeth, a shorter petite nose, wavy hair, and I'm shorter from my Dad's side. I'm also left handed/ ambidextrous, the only left handed/ambidextrous person in the entire family besides my Dad's Grandmother that died exactly a year to the day that I was born. As for my Mom's side I'm leaning toward the more slender like them, I have thick hair like my Mom's Mom did, and I'm beginning to look more like my Mom than I used to when I was younger. I think I have more features from my Dad's side.

My Dad demands I look just like his side as appose to my brother that's looking more and more like my Mom's side.

My Mom says my brother and I both look like her. lol

My dad thinks I look exactly like him at my age, but I show my friends and other people the pictures and they say they don't see any resemblance and I look like my mom. 99.9% of people I know say I look like my mom. Only one of my friends thinks otherwise.

I look like my mom's mom's dad's side... so that's my great-grandfather. I do somewhat resemble my mom, but it's the great-grandpa that's the biggest (And my grandma looks like that too.) The only things I got from my dad are his eye colour and shape of teeth.

The farthest back I could go and still see the resemblance was my mom's mom's mom. Everyone on her side looks like the mother.

My mother's side. If you've ever seen Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, that's exactly how my mom's family is.

DEFIENTLY MY FATHER'S SIDE! I got my father's long nose and wide forehead...thanks to the French in us. Yesterday, my aunt and I were talking about family resemblances. She said that these were where her features came from:

It is clear that my aunt has a lot of her dad's features, and few of her mom's. Yet, my aunt and grandmother look almost like copies of each other. How can they look so much alike but have a lot of different features?

My brothers look just like my dad but I think I am a good mixture of both. The only characteristics I have that are just like either of my parents is that I have my dad's hair and my mom's nose.

Today I was at my best friend's house, and was looking at pictures of his father. When his father was a baby, he looked exactly like him. They still have so many of the same features. It's so amazing. And his father looked exactly like his father! I was told by my eye doctor that I have my mother's exact eyes.

I totally look more like my dad. We have the exact same nose, same eyes, same face basically except he has a mustach and beard and obviously I don't have that! Also, his hair is dark brown and mine is more of a blonde shade. So, it's our eyes and nose that are really alike. i don't think I look anything like my mom! Different nose, different color eyes, different color hair. I look more like her when I see pictures of her when she was young though.

Since all eyebrows on both sides of the family were the same, I don't really have any of my dad's features at all.

i found out last night when my family friends were over that "I am a good combination of both" I have most of all my moms features, petite, same noise, and pretty much everything, except she is blonde and has straight hair, and my dad is black curly hair, so I have brown wavy hair...yup but many people say I look more like my mother

Since last time I posted I rethought my family resemblances and that I do have my dad's nose but the rest are from my mom's family.

Since my dad thinks I look just like him (which I have been told don't), when looking at his childhood pictures I pretend to agree with him

Dads Side - People say I am my dads twin, we hav the same hair color, eye color, tan skin, both short, `n` we also make the same facial expressions! Its pretty freaky!!

Most people say I look like my mom. Also I have my dad nose, his feet, and light skin from him.

I think I look more like my mom, but have my dad's build. People tell me that I look very Italian besides my eyes, which look Indian...I guess that could come from my Armenian ancestory which is close to that region.

Today my grandmother told me that she had a picture of herself at her house which looks like my brother (which is wrong because my brother looks like my dad). We spent the whole day searching her house for it and we never found it.
