View Full Version : Interesting Desi site
Ricardos4ever 04-14-2004, 11:35 AM I just came across a site that I'd never seen before and thought I'd share. It has pictures of what is supposedly Desi's house at Del Mar. It is written kind of strangely at times, there are some inaccuracies, but also there are some personal accounts of people who actually met Desi. I thought it was kinda neat if anyone's interested:

Kazza 04-14-2004, 11:46 AM I agree; that findadeath site is kinda creepy but interesting at the same time! I saw what you said about his house at Del Mar (all grey) and even his death certificate is there too
SPLAIN 04-14-2004, 01:02 PM I'm goin there right after posting here, thanks doll!
Ethel2Tillie 04-14-2004, 06:19 PM Find A Death is a fascinating website, but also a little creepy.
I can't remember if it was on that one or another site where I stumbled upon a picture of Chris Farley that was taken after he was found dead in his home. I clicked out of it immediately, but I could still see that image of him in my head days later. I'll spare you the gory details, but let's just say that if someone who was taking drugs could see that picture, they would stop taking them immediately and forever. It was the most horrible thing I have ever seen. :barf:
Lodee 04-14-2004, 07:45 PM Have you ever been to rotton.com?That one's pretty bad too.

Rotten tomatoes??
MagsLovesLucy 04-14-2004, 09:44 PM Thanks for that site! I agree, findadeath is a very interesting website but it still creeps me out. This is no where near like seeing Chris Farley's picture after death, but on another site a remember the owner scanned a pic of Lucy's death certificate and even that weirded me out a little. I don't know, to me it's just kind of...creepy.

I've been there once, and I'm never going back. It's awful!

SPLAIN 04-15-2004, 03:07 PM Wow, thanks for posting the link to that site, reading was terrific. Pictures also!
Ricardos4ever 04-15-2004, 03:23 PM Your welcome. I really enjoyed it too....it's always nice to hear real accounts from people who have met them. It was cool to hear the nice things people had to say about meeting Desi. But little Lucie was a whole other story, I guess.
SPLAIN 04-15-2004, 03:39 PM I know, i hope Laura never sees this. I have a question, Lucy and Marcella Rabwin who was married to Lucy and Desi's doctor and Marcella was Selznick's secretary when Lucy auditionned for Gone with the Wind, anyhoo, they were neighbors at Del Mar, is that the same house? God, they're practically on top of each other.
desilutoo 04-15-2004, 04:52 PM That's a neat read....do they have one for Lucy, too? I meant to look while I was there and I forgot!
MagsLovesLucy 04-15-2004, 05:07 PM Here's the page for Lucy, which is also pretty interesting (with the occasional errors of course ;) ) :

Again, there are great pics of the Beverly Hills home, and even Lucy's first house in Hollywood at 1344 Ogden Drive. The people who made comments on Lucy's site don't seem to think very fondly of Lucie, either...

Yeah, I think that Lucy and Desi were already friends with the Rabwins way before they had a house there. Desi started visiting them in Del Mar and realized that he loved going to the race track there so much. Lucy was making a movie at that time with Bob Hope, and Lucy would talk on the phone to Desi each night and he'd tell her about all the fun he was having there. She was jealous, so when Bob Hope got injured while filming she got down there as quickly as she could, and they stayed there for a few months. So they eventually decided to buy a home there. And Marcella was a neighbor -- I don't know if she lived right next door, though. But she remained Desi's neighbor and good friend probably until he died. But it was originally through Lucy and Desi's friendship with the Rabwins that they found out about Del Mar in the first place, if I'm not mistaken. And yes, I always imagined them to have a lot of property in Del Mar, but I guess not.
