I don't think that Desi was gay, nor do I think that he was bisexual. I just think that he was very open about his sexuality, and wasn't averse to "trying something new" once or twice. What might seem gross to you might have seemed like it wasn't a huge deal to him. He might have just figured, hey, you only live once, so why not? I doubt he made a habit of it.

It was on a website that someone posted awhile back. It was an interview with Ceasar Romero, and he hinted that he and Desi had gotten cozy once before. We'll never know for sure, especially since Desi isn't here to verify anything, so all we can do is speculate.
