Sorry, I know alot of you 8SR FANS are going to say "NO WAY" at the thought of Suzanne Somers or Joyce DeWitt as the mother but just feel that either ladies had much better chemisty with John! And this is no offense, to Ms. Sagal, but Joyce & Suzanne just have much better comic timing & both were MAGIC with John!!! :D

Maybe, but it wouldn't have worked. People would have seen right through it, to see this as a sad attempt to do over 'Three's Company' and probably would have written it off instantly.

Suzanne Somers did say, though, I think on Larry King, that they had been discussing a possible guest spot shortly before John passed. Joyce DeWitt seems to have no interest to work on primetime anymore. I think she just wants to do stage work and stay out of the spotlight.

I wouldn't have liked that. I think Katey is perfect inthe roll. If Joyce or Suzanne would have starred in it, the show would have been constantly getting compared to Three's Company. Look what happened when Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad teamed up on Cosby after the Cosby Show. I liked that show but it paled in comparrison to the original.

I don't know about Joyce, but Suzanne would've made the role because of her role on Step By Step

I don't think so. I like Katey Sagal as Cate. I don't think Joyce acts anymore so that would probably never happen. Suzanne would have been nice as the part but does she even act anymore. I think they should have had Don Knotts as the grandfather though.

Don Knotts appeared in the first season as Ralph Furley, so I don't think he could really have played the grandfather. I also don't know if he could be convincing as Cate's dad, either.

What about Mr. Knotts as Paul's Dad!?

Well, I can certainly see Don Knotts as Paul's dad. But since they did the episode 'Come Knock on our Door' and he woke up in bed with him in a dream sequence it would make it a little weird.
