NOt a Manly MAN. He would have been too afraid to defend her if he had to do so and what women wants a PASSIVE man? See most of you don't realize that the women Jack went out with never saw that side of him. Janet always saw the WIMPY side of Jack and I don;t think she would have preferred that to be a quality of a boyfriend/husband

Prime Example: In the episode when Jack decides who to take on the cruise between Janet and Chrissy. Jack was saying what is "wrong with me", I have no back bone., I'm a spinless jelly fish"

and then Janet said-"We know Jack, that's what we love about you"-LOL

Jack showed his tough side in the episode when Jack is faced with a bully in the boxing ring. Janet and Terri didn't want him to fight at first because they thought that he would get creamed. But after the fight, that epi would have shown Janet that Jack isn't as wimpy as what she once thought.

I personally didn't think that Jack was that wimpy. Furley on the other hand was, He always hid behind Jack.

The thing that confuses me with the janet/vicky debate is why people were saying Janet would have been a better choice and they were never romantically involved. why do some people just say Janet? I was always like where did that idea come from?

Sean Snow

While I'm not by any means a fan of the Jack/Janet coupling which seems to be popular among many fans, I don't think it would've mattered if Janet thought Jack was "manly" or not. She strikes me as the type of person who would like someone based on their personality, not by their physical strength or how willing they are to fight. (IMO, I thought it was smart that Jack didn't try to get into fights with people -.-)

Because there was potential for a romantic relationship between Jack and Janet. With their personalities, they just fit. Vicki came in the last couple of episodes and the veiwers didn't see any thing special about Vicki like we did with Janet. I too feel that It would have been a great ending to TC.

I was surprised that someone like Vicky was chosen because through the years the Jack Tripper went out with some beautiful women and for him to settle with Vicky was shocking. I think Physically, Janet and Vicky was on the same level which means I didn't see either one of them as a good fit for Jack.

i dont think jack was wimpy at all! if he had to stand up for one of his roomates he would. he didnt fight for them all the time but he helped them in other ways. like in some of that jazz, he tried to warn janet.........he thought that guy was a creep and didnt want her to be hurt emotionally. also his girl roomates were very strong women. i dont necessarily mean they can throw a man 10 feet but they could fend for themselves. they werent helpless damsels(sp) in distress! and terri had to take a course for self defense and chrissy took karate, cindy was just clumsy in a defensful way for herself, and janet........well janet is tough.....only when needed tho! so jack was tough in his own way! so its not fair to call him wimpy! and besides who wants a man who goes around fighting with everyone?!!

dude, that’s sexist.. All men aren’t manly men, and women know that. women date all types of men, such as jack dated all types of women. Many women here would I think be happy to date “jack”, and janet wanted to date jack in mate for each other, instead of bailing out (and had a good time doing so). I also fail to see how Janet thinks agressive before brains. "B.A.R.K." comes to mind and Janet was none to happy about jack's assertiveness.

Janet was defended in Jack’s heart, the most important place. Take Some Of That Jazz for example, jack could have knocked that guy out, but he tended towards mending broken hearts instead of creating an explosive scene. I don’t know if we talk about the same concepts of janet in this thread. The janet I’ve seen always respects men who think things out, as apposed to men who slug things out. She’s never quick to have jack jump in a fight.

TVShow Analyzer face it, you can't make us think that Jack was a wimp. First of all you couldn't even tell me all of Jack's girlfriends that were controlling because I know there were some girlfriends that he had that weren't controlling. You can't say he was a wimp because there are many examples that show Jack as a protecter to the girls. So just face it, your exaples that support your opinion are weak.

Thing is , he mightve had feelings for her , did you see the look on his face when Janet got knocked out? Bottom line , they all cared and loved each other! But , with Jack and Janet , it was different b/c they were just around each other so much ( 8 years! ) that if anything happened to Janet , Jack wouldnt be the same as he usually is.

I found alot of people arguing that Jack wasn't a wimp. TVShow Analyzer was saying thats why Janet wouldnt like him, and we were arguing that Jack wasn't a wimp and that all women didnt have 2 have tough men.

What about when in that episode Jack was fighting that guy in the ring, and the guy hit Janet...so Jack flipped and knocked the guy out and then went to see if Janet was okay. :p

Yeah, thats the same episode. That episode showed that Janet probably wouldn't have thought that Jack was a wimp because Jack knocked the guy out. And also, It showed how much Jack really cared for Janet because he was so worried about her that he was gonna do anything to get the bully biff guy out of the way to see how Janet was doing and ended up knocking him out.
I think Janet thought Jack was a wimp in the very beginning with the episode Jack the Giant Killer, when he was a chicken to stand up for himself against the bully in the regal beagle. But, there were lots of episodes later that would have proved to Janet that he wasn't a wimp.

He never said Jack was trying to knock Biff out , he just said that Jack DID knock him out , by accident.

Anyone who knocks someone out by accident must be a true tough man and NOT a wimp! :D
