Hey guys! I got back from Michigan last night but didn't have the time or energy to write this. As I said a few days ago, I was going to Holland, Michigan to attend Lisa Whelchel's Creative Parenting Seminar. Well, I did, and I got to meet her too! So, here are the details. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
She was speaking twice on Saturday, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. My parents and I chose to go in the afternoon. I almost wasn't able to go, though! No one had told me that you needed tickets to get in, but I found out because we needed directions to the church and so I called and found out. Luckily, there were hundreds of tickets left!
It took place at a very nice church. We got there about 1/2 hour early, but I did see Lisa wlaking thorugh the lobby during that time! Since it was open seating, we got front row seats! At the beginning of the seminar, some people from the church did a skit about parenting, and during that time, Lisa sat just 2 rows behind me! She looked really great - hasn't changed much! She has a bit more of a southern accent than we normaly hear. And she's very petite! I'm about 5'3", and she's shorter than me!
She then talked about her book, gave personal anecdotes, and answered the audience's questions at the end. After that, she went out to the lobby to do book signings. She signed a copy of "Creative Correction" for my mom, and a couple of pictures for me! I got to tell her how much I love FOL, that I've been following her trip, and that I'm really excited about the renuion. Then, Earl, from the church, (he was mentioned in today's journal entry) was kind enough to take a picture of me with Lisa!
It was a great experience, and I feel incredibly lucky! She was so nice! Check her schedule and see if she's going to come to a town near you - it would be great if everyone got a chance to meet her!
