Does Anybody have ICQ? I just signed up to this service, and I am already being bombarded with people sending me tons of messages. Since yesterday, I'm getting 50 messages from people that I don't even know.

I'm getting kind of annoyed by using the ignore button. Is there anyway I can stop this? Is it because other people can see my profile, and know that I'm online.

I've been using ICQ since 1997 but haven't used it in ages. There should be something in your preferences where you can prevent other users from IMing you...look around...

You can choose to accept messages from only people on your list. Also, unlike AIM you can only allow people that you authorize to add you to their list. I use Trillian myself though for AIM/ICQ.

Thanks guys. I found that option in the Security and Privacy Permissions menu. It can get pretty annoying when you are chatting with your friends, and these messages keep poping up. As one friend told me- It's a good thing I didn't include my photo in my Unified Messaging Center. I would probably get twice as much PM's than I do now.

Yikes - I haven't used ICQ full-time since 2001/02...I still have my UIN and passwords for it and stuff...but I hardly ever log on now. In fact, I don't even have ICQ on this computer I got 4 months ago. I'm out of touch with the new features on ICQ.
