Well, it's not actually my car...kinda my parents'...but anyway, it's a pearl white Sonata. It's not fancy, but if it's clean, it looks it. :biglove:

it's an old one, '93 or '94, but it's gold. It was my mom's car, but she got a new white Xterra

1998 Gold Lumina. It's nice, after having a bad string of luck with cars (including the one below that caught on fire while I was driving last fall) to have a nice safe reliable car. I love it.

No, I wasn't referring to you but I get so sick of hearing that Foreign cars are better because they aren't! Let's support our American cars! I have a friend who owns a 1994 Chevy Silverado Pick up truck that has 235,000 miles on it! Top that Toyota! And my son is driving a 1985 Silverado and it runs just great! :happyface

All right... I will give the trucks to us Americans, but for cars, the Japanese ones are just better. I am sorry. I mean if you had to pick a Honda Civic or a Chevrolet Cavalier or Ford Focus what kind of contest is that? Again, a Toyota Camry v. a Ford Taurus? Not even close. But American trucks are nice. The only American car brands I care for are Dodge and Chrysler (those Sebrings and PT Cruisers are hot). But I drive a Honda right now.

Well let's see...I work in the industry. Which American models do we see in the shop newest? ding ding...Chrysler products.


People will say American cars break more often. And they sometimes do...but parts are a hell of a lot cheaper (which is most of the repair cost, trust me.) But basically it comes down to this...unless it's a repair that is common to a certain model (spark plug wires and Neons are not friends with each other), then it doesn't matter what kind of car it is...it's how it's taken care of. If you drive a car hard and don't maintain it well...it could be brand new and break. Simple as that.

But it's not so simple as just comparing the cars. What specifically are you comparing? Braking? Gas Mileage? Life of the head gaskets? Sure, you can look at overall reliability records, and they might tell you a little, but if you really, truly wanted to make an honest comparison, you'd have to have the same person drive each car the same way, take them in for LOF at the same mileage, take car of them in the exact same way.

My aunt is great at killing cars. She can take a 4-cyl motor, drive it at 80mph all the time, and I guarantee you, the sucker will break sooner than it should just because she drives them too hard.

Well...lemme just say this...Foreign...Domestic...if the car is only a 4-cyl, you're gonna have problems with them in the long run. 4-cylinders is 2 cylinders too few for an engine. They are entirely too underpowered to be doing any interstate driving.

This one is a '76 Fleetwood 75 Limousine, 9-passenger, 21-feet long, 6,040 lbs, rear compartment radio controls. Power glass partition window. Seperate front/rear climate controls, jump seats and foot rests in the back. Currently has 87,000 miles, 9-13 mpg. 500-cu.-in. engine (8.2 L).

This isn't my parents' actual car (just a pic I found online), but it's pretty much what it looks like.

I have no doubt about the parts thing. When I got mine (my 2001 Civic is my first car), the insurance guy said that the rates are higher on foreign cars because of repair costs. So I know what you are saying is true, I just didn't care.

And I know about Chryslers and Dodges too, I just think they are nice looking. For me looks have to count for something. Who wants to drive around in a dependable but ugly car? But I also realize that Japanese cars are nicer, but American cars are making good progress at being nicer.

I don't have a car yet. :(

But... I will be turning 16 in July, so I will be getting one then.:happyface :cool: :D

My Dad has a white Ford Explorer and my Mom has a white Buick Park Avenue. I hate that car with a passion. It's too damn big.

My dad gave his 76 Nova a new paint job in 90 or 91, but it's starting to rust again. Stupid wet winters and humid summers.

Yeah, those cold winters and moisture sure are hard on a car's paint. Luckily, I live in dry So. Calif. A lot of old cars' body/paint have survived mainly because of the weather.

A silver, four door Toyota Corrolla, which is brand new; bought last month...A great car and excellent gas mileage..which is a must for me because I do a lot of travelling back and forth from San Diego to LA:)

I am really enjoying driving right now with my learner's permit. I've been on the interstate several times going higher than 70 mph. My problem is the city traffic with the stop-go, slow moving mess. I am fine on a highway where you don't have to stop for long periods of time.

There's a story behind that. My mom totalled her car in October 2003...She went car shopping and found a guy with the car that she has now...At the time she got it, it had 25K miles on it. In the six months she's had it, she's managed to put 3K more miles on it. :D

I guess I should put a pic of my '66 Dodge Dart GT V-8, even though I don't own it anymore (owned from 1979-2002). I was the regular driver of it from '79 to '95.
273-cu. in. V-8, modified (4-bbl Carter carb., dual exhausts, shift kit, 3.23 gears, electronic ignition, unsilenced air cleaner). Had 109,000 miles when I started driving it; eventually ran up to over 230,000 miles. Tough car, tough engine.

BTW, I showed this pic to actor John Schneider ("Dukes of Hazzard") and he was impressed. He even signed the original copy of the pic for me.

I have a red 2000 Honda Accord coupe. It's pretty simple...I really don't like it that much anymore.
