I just got back from Jamestown (!!!) :D Did you guys miss me? HA!
It was GREAT! I took lots of pix! I was so nervous when I got there, my stomach was doing flip-flops! lol The bad part of it though, we were staying in Erie, PA, and the morning we were going to leave for Jamestown, it snowed six f'ing inches! Grrr..I had never seen so much snow in my life! It enevr snows here! We hardly made it to Jamestown, but made it we did! :D *dies* I can't believe I got to go! My parents are super for taking me all the way from SC. The trip was a killer! LOL
DID I MISS ANYTHIN'?
Kazza 04-06-2004, 10:26 PM Great to have you back! Can't wait for the piccies:wave:
crazyredhead 04-06-2004, 10:44 PM Hehe, me either! lol! *waits to get them developed*
It's good to be back even though I didn't want to leave!
Lodee 04-07-2004, 06:32 PM Wow, those are nice parents. :) So what did you do and what did you see? Oh, and what did you buy?
SPLAIN 04-07-2004, 09:21 PM Yeah, we WANT details kiddo, and why on earth does nobody ever POST from there? You picked a cold time of year to go and the city can't look that good at this time of year. Where did you go first? The Museum? Little Theater?
crazyredhead 04-08-2004, 09:17 AM LOL!
Let's seee..the first place we went to was Friendly's, because we hadn't had breakfast yet..but I couldn't eat anything, I was at FREAKIN Jamestown! LOL Then we went to the Holiday Inn to get checked in! And behind the checkin-in desk, there was a big painted picture of Lucy that once hung in her Beverly Hills home! *took a picture of that* They also had a display case with some ILL things..then we went to the museum (!!). It was sooo cool! They already had the new exhibit up, Lucy and Desi in The Movies. It had different stuff they wore in movies, and it even had her dress that she wore at her last public appearance. *took pictures* It also had the movie projector that was in Desi and Lucy's home. It wasn't in a case, it was huge and you could TOUCH it! The also had a big screen in the back where you could watch specials and such. There was one where I hadn't seen where it chowed a clip of Desi and Desi Jr. performing The Straw Hat Song on the Mothers-in-Law. I also signed my name in the big book they had. :D We stayed there probably and hour and a half at least. Then we drove around looking for the murals, finally found all those! *took pictures* Went to the Little Theatre. *took pics* Then I think we went to Friendly's again lol! Got some ice cream..then we went to Lucy's house in Celeron..*took pics* We drove around and took more pictures..blah blah blah..I'm getting writer's cramp..lol!
I never expected Jamestown to be that big! It was a nice little town, it stopped snowing finally, and I was soo sad to be leaving! :(
MagsLovesLucy 04-08-2004, 10:58 AM Wow! Glad you had fun, Bekah! Did you drop in the gift shop? ;)
crazyredhead 04-08-2004, 11:36 AM Ooohh yah! I bought a few thin's, well, actually my mom did, she's the one with the moolah! LOL :D
Kazza 04-08-2004, 11:43 AM What Desi stuff you get to see at the Museum? besides touching the projector a million times:lol:
crazyredhead 04-08-2004, 12:29 PM LOL!
They had a display case that had one of his sport jackets--I drooled at that one for awhile--it looked like the one he wore alot during the latter years of ILL. It had an original poster from Too Many Girls and one for Holiday in Havana. It had a toy conga drum from the days of ILL. There was also some plaque of some award that Desi got. There was alot of pictures I've never seen. Most of the stuff they had was Lucy stuff. Yes, I practically licked the projector. LOL!
Kazza 04-08-2004, 12:32 PM What about his real conga drum? Did you get to play that one?:D
Looks like I need to start a Desi museum of my own :o
crazyredhead 04-08-2004, 12:37 PM Hah, I wish! I think his real conga drum was from the last exhibit! I can't wait until they get a bigger museum so they can put everythin' in it!
Yeah Karen, that would be nice! But you'd have to have some THICK display cases to keep ME away from his stuff! Maybe even a guard..I dunno..LOL!

A guard won't do...we can end up seducing him out of there:lol: unless he's like the one at Buckingham Palace on 'Lucy meets the Queen'
crazyredhead 04-08-2004, 01:30 PM LOL!! Or you can just keep everything open and not torture us like the people at the museum! :happyface
SPLAIN 04-08-2004, 08:37 PM I dun't get it, was this Lucy's birthplace or Desi's? Or did you go to the Spanish part of Jamestown? LOL! Sounds like you had a great time though.
Kazza 04-08-2004, 08:45 PM Claude; you have to understand that since there is barely a trace of Desi's history in Cuba; all we can get from Jamestown is worth it!

LOL! Uhh..Karen was just asking me what DESI stuff I saw..I enjoyed ALL of it! I just couldn't believe I was actually in LUCILLE BALL's hometown. When we were at Friendly's the first time, this waitress and this woman in the next booth kept trying to give us directions to everything. Everybody in the restaurant was staring at us..but I didn't care, I was just laughing!
SPLAIN 04-10-2004, 10:27 PM Yeah, true, people in small towns are so helpful, try getting directions in New York City and see what happens, LOL!
SPLAIN 04-10-2004, 10:28 PM How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice! It's an old joke, but then, so am I!
Lodee 04-11-2004, 03:07 PM I've heard that one and I'm not that old! Well, I'm old but not THAT old.

LOL! Yeah NYC is my next stop! :D ;)
SPLAIN 04-12-2004, 10:06 AM I went there at 18, walked thru alleys at 2 AM, never had a problem, but my dad had warned me how bad it would be and how careful i should be. I came back a week later and told him, ya see, nothing happened. But i had the New York Daily News in my pocket and the headline was that these women would drive up to the Americana hotel, an upscale hotel at that time, and they would ask male tourists for directions, when a man would approach the car, the four women would drag him into the car, stab him, take his money and dump him n the curb in broad daylight in front of everybody, my dad sees this, and says, YEAH, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL THERE! Did i mention that that's where i was staying for the week?
MagsLovesLucy 04-12-2004, 01:41 PM I live about an hour away from NYC. It's an awesome place to visit, but I'd never want to live there.
SPLAIN 04-12-2004, 02:02 PM First of all, how can they live there with the rents that high? Oh yeah, it's a great place to visit but i wouldn't want to live there, is a phrase that was just made for that city! LOL!
