One thing that puzzled me is why wasn't Nancy McKeon in the Facts Of Life reunion movie as Jo?

What, she couldn't pull herself away from her "smash" hit series on Lifetime???

It just seems bizarre that she couldn't appear on the show. On the other hand, some idiot on the Internet Movie Database suggested that they recast Jo - this person suggested Sandra Bullock and Neve Campbell because of their resemblance to Jo.

Can you imagine Bullock's agent asking "Hey Sandra, would you rather do a $10 million dollar movie with Hugh Grant or 'The Facts Of Life' reunion movie...?"

Her reply would probably be "You're fired."

Nancy McKeon doesn't particularly LOVE being remembered as Jo. She's trying to advance her career as an actress and some people keep trying to throw her back into the 80's to play Jo.

She can call it what she wants, I call it ungrateful. She wouldn't even have a career were it not for Facts.

Just my two cents.

Nancy McKeon is a TERRIFIC actress (note to all you Nancy McKeon fans who know me and thought I'd never admit it...I just have)... If it hadn't been FACTS, it would've been something ELSE. Using arguments like that are completely irrelevant and meaningless, because you CAN'T PROVE that had she not been on FOL, she'd never have made it in the acting world. She's not being ungrateful at all. She acknowledges that her years on FOL were great, she's just not in a hurry to be type-cast into another generation as Jo.

Yeah.That kind of reminds of a poem I read,I don't remember
the title but it about a a yiung woman reflecting on her past
And these limericks from that poem caught my attention.
''Excuse me,I am not the same person from yesterday,
no I will ever be today,But understand what I'm trying to
say I will live the way I want to see it.
Never again people come across and say be It.''
''Be it I may ask?,They will answer who you were in the past.''
That's what I think Nancy is trying to overcome,The past.

I agree but also kinda don't.

I think Kim Fields has probably distanced herself as far away from Tootie (Living Single was probably as big, if not bigger, than any of Nancy's post-FOL series) but yet she still "regressed" and did Tootie for old times sake. TV movies only take what, 2-3 weeks, to film. Maybe Nancy could've just done a cameo and that would've been enough. It's great that she has escaped the Jo typecasting, but I feel that the FOL reunion movie should not have been made without her. When you think "The Facts Of Life", you think of Blair, Jo, Natalie and Tootie, with Mrs. Garrett, when you take one of the four girls out of the equation, it's not the same. Unless the actor's dead, I don't see why make a reunion movie if it doesn't include all of the major characters.
