View Full Version : Something here about Desi
Fran=Lucy 04-04-2004, 04:59 PM I read this in an encyclopedia:
"Arnaz' marriage with Ball began to collapse under his serious problems with drugs, alcohol and sexual addiction and they divorced."
I knew that he drank and all but I didn't know that he used drugs. Is it true? :(
Ethel2Tillie 04-04-2004, 05:48 PM Hmm, I don't know! I haven't heard about him using drugs, either.
Kazza 04-04-2004, 06:15 PM I think they forgot to add 'prescription drugs' as in painkillers and such

SPLAIN 04-04-2004, 08:26 PM WELL, HIS DYING SO YOUNG IS A CLUE, he abused everything. At least he really LIVED his life while he was here. Yes, people forget he was very sick for many years before the cancer claimed him.
Lodee 04-04-2004, 09:12 PM Sorry, guess I'm just stupid. Never mind.

Yes, I figured that the term "drugs" refered to painkillers, too, but didn't he abuse those more toward the end of his life? I have never seen drugs being listed as a factor that broke up his marriage, as the article says.
I also am surprised to see the term "sexual addiction" there. None of the books I've ever read have actually used those words before. Interesting. I mean, its one thing to be a philanderer, but it's quite another to have a sexual addiction. But some of the things he did suggests to me that it is a very strong possibility.

It would also depend on how many times a day it's normal to be considered addiction; just because he liked to do it a few times more than usual is to be considered addiction

On the Bob Crane scale of sexual addiction, I'd say Desi seems a 6. Orgies put you a little farther up the scale.
SPLAIN 04-06-2004, 09:13 PM With SIX being the highest you mean? LOL!

 I was using 1-10, but you can make your own scale. :D
SPLAIN 04-06-2004, 09:25 PM Actually, didn't Desi even have a SCALE named after him at some point? LOL! Or was it that he made the Guiness Book of World Records? I forget!
crazyredhead 04-06-2004, 10:16 PM ROFL!
Yeah, I'm surprised I haven't seen his name in there yet!
SPLAIN 04-07-2004, 09:38 PM His name appears frequently in the X rated version, LOL!
crazyredhead 04-08-2004, 09:20 AM LOL! You know where I could get that?

Kazza 04-08-2004, 04:02 PM As I understand he had part of his colon removed and used a 'bag' on the side:(
ricardo/mertz 04-08-2004, 04:08 PM Oh, that's just plain awful. I have a friend whose Grandpa had that bag thing. He was pretty much bedridden.
Thanks for answering my question.

SPLAIN 04-08-2004, 08:21 PM At that time Desi compared himself to a President who also had the disease, President Lyndon Baines Johnson!
