View Full Version : If there was a short lived TV shows channel
If there was a channel that aired short lived tv shows (lasting no longer than two full seasons), what shows would you want to see on this network? Here is my list:
Square Peqs
Get a Life
Grady
Working
Working Stiffs
Police Squad (though I have all of the episode on tape, the back ground music for certain scenes on the Paramount home video version is different then the original broadcast version)
Me and the Boys
Cop Rock (though I might get sick of the show after a while)
Pavan 04-04-2004, 04:45 PM Off the top of my head, some one or two season shows...
The Ropers, Three's a Crowd, Teachers Only, One in a Million, Checking In, Sanford, Sanford Arms, Grady, Gloria, 704 Hauser, The Dumplings, The Royal Family, The Trouble With Larry, Tabitha, Thunder Alley, Family Dog, She's the Sheriff, Blansky's Beauties, Who's Watching the Kids?, Joanie Loves Chachi, Out of the Blue, Fish, Filthy Rich, Babes, Baby Talk, Bridget Loves Bernie, His & Hers, Have Faith, Life With Lucy ... and some shows that lasted more than 2 seasons: Hearts Afire, Hooperman and Anything But Love.
I hope I didn't miss anything.

You must have watched Working Stiffs when it originally aired.

Good pick, I remember that show. That was when the prime time soaps like Dallas and Dynasty were hot. I was into Morgan Fairchild back then.

Sanford Arms

Though it would be nice to have a channel like that, I think the channel would also be short-lived LOL

Yeah, I love all the primetime soaps. "Flamingo Road" reruns air on Goodlife TV every Monday night (like tonight) and I looooooooove it. Morgan Fairchild is such a bitch on it, but that's what I love about her. Just like how I love Abby from "Knots Landing" and Alexis from "Dynasty."
tvfan0101 04-05-2004, 04:01 PM Ack, my list would be endless. And not all sitcoms. selection:
Roxie, Take Five, Second Chance, The Second Hundred Years, Spencer, Stat, Stingray, The Swiss Family Robinson, Szysznyk, TV 101, Teech, Traps, Gloria, Hometown, Ivan The Terrible, James at 15, The Kallikaks, The Lieutenant, Mr. Terriific, Monty, Muddling Through, The New People, The Good Life, Captain Nice, The Outsiders, The Man From Atlantis, My World And Welcome To It, The Young Rebels, Paris, Occasional Wife, Nancy, The Four Seasons, Paper Moon, The Texas Wheelers, The New Land, Nakia, Born Free, Sons and Daughters, Cop Rock, Woops!, Delta House, I Married Dora, E/R, My Life And Times, Karen, The Baileys of Balboa...
James 04-06-2004, 01:06 AM I forgot to name Gidget as a show I would add!!!
jamesanthony 04-06-2004, 02:39 PM When I traveled abroad in the 70s and 80s the country I went to only had one Tv station broadcast on 2 channels. They would sign off in the middle of the day so the workers could go eat lunch and then sign on again until about midnight, then come back at 9 am. Most of the programming was reruns US shows and they had reruns of shows i had never heard of. Most of them only ran a year or less: Young Lawyers, Longstreet, Barefoot in the Park, The Magician, Thunderbirds, Funny Face. They ran them once a week and when they ran out of episodes they'd replace them with other shows. This could be an interesting experiment for US TV now. Also, this station had much fewer commercials than the US so the shows were unedited.
With all the shows networks have dumped over the last 40-50 years some channel could fil up its schedule with almost anything.
As for my choices I'd go for:
Police Squad, Teech, Where I Live, Me and the Boys, the Hero (from the 1960s with Richard Mulligan and Marriette Hartley), Love on A Rooftop, Hey Landlord, Name of the Game, The Outcasts (1968), the newer version of Mission Impossible, NYPD (from the late 1960s), My World and Welcome to It, Arnie.
Freaks And Geeks
Undeclared
Action
The Critic
Police Squad!
That's My Bush

PZelda 05-12-2004, 03:10 AM In making this thread, I can't believe nobody has mentioned Flash Forward. That show only lasted one season...Best show ever.

Barbra Jean 05-13-2004, 03:49 PM I would like to see all those TGIF shows from the 80's like The Charmings or Mike Sledgehammer. Working would also be cool, the one with Fred Savage as an adult. Oh, and this wasn't a sitcom but My So-Called Life.
