Cindy is 13, Bobby is 14, Jan is 16, Peter is 17, Marcia is 18, and Greg is 19
Mike gets a huge promotion at work. Carol and Alice become better friends. Sam dies of a heart attack the night after proposing to Alice. Greg goes to college and moves into a dorm. Greg falls for his Chemistry professor, Ms. Adams. Marcia develops a thing for Greg's roommate, Mark Smithson. Marcia prepares for college. Peter tries to figure out what he wants to be when he gets older. Peter works part-time with his dad. Jan gets her license and suddenly becomes equally popular as Marcia, leaving Marcia and Jan to become on even-ground. Bobby learns the facts of life and the birds and bees. Bobby learns he is not that attracted to girls his age and that he, oddly, is attracted to the boys his age. Bobby ends up telling his family that he is gay. At first, Alice, Carol, Mike, Marcia, Jan, and Cindy are stunned but approve. Yet, Greg, and Peter tease him and end up feeling odd around Bobby. Cindy gets her period and starts noticing boys. Cindy develops a crush on the neighbor boy, Todd Richards.
