Today, the Supreme Court of Canada issued great news for music fans when they essentially declared music file sharing on the Internet to be perfectly legal. In other words, if you live in Canada and have around 5000 Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, and Rolling Stones tunes that you supposedly "stole" off other mp3 users, you will NOT be arrested and no one will come to your house and harass you (except maybe Solomon!).

Now it's up to the lawmakers south of the border to get off their butts and follow suit with a similar proclamation and get file sharing off the courts and into the homes of all Americans, where it belongs. After today's ruling, there's no reason, and no excuse, why Americans can't share this great news with us.

Downloading and sharing mp3 files is legal in Canada, but they have a law against Tape Trading? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

I don't think anybody challenged that in court, TJ. I think (from what a CTV television station told me in an e-mail last year) is you cannot sell any video tapes for profit. I have traded several Petticoat Junction episodes with another friend of mine in Moldavia last fall, and I was never bothered about it by any customs agents on the issue, from either Canada or Moldavia.

I prefer other legal file sharing programs except Kazaa Lite.
