Art James, who hosted game shows such as The Who, What or Where Game (The 3Ws), Say When, Pay Cards and The Magnificant Marble Machine, passed away Sunday at the age of 74.

He began his game show career as the announcer on the original Concentration in 1958 and left the show in 1961 to host his first game Say When. He also presided over the New York version of the franchised high school quiz show It's Academic, which was seen Saturdays on WNBC-TV.

I just found out about Art James in my local newspaper. "The WWW Game" was one of the very first game shows I recall ever seeing as a child. I also loved "The Magnificent Marble Machine" depsite that it flopped. In fact, I remember getting upset when they took that one off the air, because I was so much into pinball machines as a kid. I'd sure love to see both of those classics on GSN. The last game show I saw Art hosting was "Catch Phrase" on ABC in the mid-80's.

Godspeed, Art. And say hello to Bill Cullen, Allen Ludden, Johnny Olsen, Rod Roddy, Garry Moore and the rest of the game show gang up there for me.
