View Full Version : Blair smoking
Paulnumberone2001 08-27-2001, 05:50 PM In the first episode Mrs. Garrett says to Blair "You smoke" and Blair agrees with her. Can anyoneone ekplain this to me? Was there a scene of Blair smoking that was deleted From NicK At Nite and were there any episodes where she did smoke? Why do you think this scene was filmed?
a NaNcY FaNaTiC 08-27-2001, 05:52 PM Blair was smoking in the pilot episode.
paulnumberone2001 08-27-2001, 05:59 PM Do you mean the Different Strokes episode or the first Facts Of Life episode? I watched the first FOL episode and did not see her smoking? Can you tell me what scene it was in?

Blair: I just had another one of my brilliant ideas!!!!!
FOL & DS fan 4ever 08-27-2001, 08:31 PM It's funny how we've never seen or heard anything again about Blair smoking after that. It's like the writers decided to erase that detail later on. Anyway, it never did make sense to me in the first place, because one would think that someone like Blair would want stay away from smoking, knowing that it can make a person's teeth yellow, age them quickly, etc. (ex: "Snap out of it....worry causes wrinkles").
TVaddict 08-27-2001, 09:15 PM Blair's character changed a lot after the first season. She seemed far more adult in the first season than she ever did later on, including the end of the show when she actually was an adult. I personally liked the change, she became much more likeable after she stopped acting not only snotty, but just plain mean.
Though Blair was never smoked again on screen after the pilot episode, her smoking was mentioned on a first season episode. Mrs. Garrett observes how Blair is so sophisticated, smokes, flirts with men, and talks a great game. At the time the show was written in the late 1970's smoking was not seen as the absolute "evil" it is today.

Yea, I know; that was mentioned in the first episode- "Rough Housing." I meant I am surprised that it was never elaborated after the 1st season. Can you imagine what it would be like if Blair were smoking after Jo came along?
Ags2000 08-30-2001, 09:52 AM I can just imagine it. lol it would really be funny. Brings a whole new meaning to Jo's phrase "Blow it out your Gucci bag" http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/rotflmao.gif What do you think Jo would say to Blair?
D
FOL & DS fan 4ever 08-30-2001, 09:25 PM Well, I can imagine Jo and Blair smoking together. Jo would offer Blair a cigarette, and Blair would refuse it only b/c Jo is not offering her a "classy" brand of cigarettes. Blair would explain to her that there's a special way that "sophisticated" people smoke.

Actually there is an ep called Dope where Blair and Sue Ann decide to join an exclusive group of girls whose favorite pastime is smoking marijuana. But it's one of those eps N@N won't air so that's probably why you haven't seen or heard of her smoking snice the pilot.
FOL & DS fan 4ever 08-31-2001, 01:12 AM Yea, I know about Dope.....I should have been clear that it was after Season One that we never heard of her smoking again. Oh...and I saw the pilot ep tonight (which I probably have seen 20+ years ago and forgot about it....) which was basically new to me since I don't remember it (it's been so long...). It didn't look like anything fantastic to me.
Livin' La Vida Peekskill 08-31-2001, 09:36 PM Do Blair and Sue-Anne actually smoke dope in that episode?

Only Sue Anne smokes the pot. Blair tries
to stop her.
