I'd hate to say it but I think I've lost interest in this show. I can't seem to watch it anymore. I remeber last year every tuesday I would be like "Oh Boy! 8 simple rules is on tonight" now its just like "Meh....I'll watch Whoopi instead" I've been trying really hard to like it but Its just not the same without John. Its now become......Boring. :(

I feel really bad for saying this, and I hope everyone doesn't get mad at me but I actually think the show is even funnier than season 1. (once again im very sorry...i still love john but thats just my opinion)

That makes sense, it's a lot different. While I don't think all the episodes from this season have been consistently good (although they weren't all consistently good last year, too, either) I've found some of the episodes to be really funny and I still look forward to the show every Tuesday night. But I could understand why people would lose interest in the show since losing John hurt a lot. :(

I totally understand you losing interest in this show. The spark John Ritter brought to it made this show so much more entertaining.

I also understand if you've found the second season to be a little more interesting.

The fact is, atleast in my opinion, not many sitcoms these days are that well written, or have cutting edge, very interesting premises. The next best thing was to give a beloved sitcom star his own show again. When he was on, his talent made it a very funny show, but kind of predictable. With his passing, the show had to try to do something that most sitcoms don't do. Get serious. My interest in the show increased when this happened, personally but it was never as funny.

Now they have that card to play, but I'm also not as interested. I'd still watch this show over Whoopi, or American Idol, but I don't find it as good as last season. However, it now has something to offer that other sitcom's can't. So it's a double-edged sword, either way.

I must admit to watching Whoopi too. The show is pretty darn funny!

I keep getting more interested in the show. James Garner and David Spade are great together. I have the first ten episodes on tape, so once in a while, I'll watch a classic John Ritter episode. But I think they're doing a great job this season, something I thought they wouldn't do.

When the show goes into syndication and they air every episode, and start over again with the pilot, as glad as I'll be that they're back to the John Ritter episodes, I'll really miss James Garner.

I hope this show has a long run. And I honestly think that it can. Once John Ritter first died, I figured the show would die with him. Then when I found they were continuing, I figured it would end after season two. Whether it does or not, I think "8 Simple Rules" could go on for a few more seasons.

As for Whoopi and American Idol ... I would never watch those shows over 8 Simple Rules. Although the rest of my family watches AI.

I do like what they've done with James Garner. He's a great character actor, and now probably my favorite part of the show. The role fits him perfectly. I have enjoyed his work and hope to see more of him on the show in the future.

Still doesn't make up for the loss of John, though. John Ritter was tailor-made for sitcoms. Everything he did was funny.

hope nobody gets mad at me but i too am losing interest in the show.it used to be that i couldnt wait for tuesday nights so i could watch 8 simple rules.,but now i really could care less.i think the show has lost its humor and is just plain dull without john.out of respect for john i think that it should have been cancelled when he passed away.i think abc cares more aboit the ratings rather than respect for his memory...i really dont expect it to be renewed for a third season.i must admit that i have stopped watching the show,

I still like it.
Not as much, but I still like it.



Hopefully it will last.

i'm not really losing interest...i still watch the show regularly, but it's not as good. the show was way better with john, let's face it: he made the show what it was. nowadays, this is going to sound mean or something, but they just rely on his death to turn the episode into a sob-story. yes it is very sad that john died, and i miss him a lot, and i know the cast does too, but they draw on his death way too much...for example, in the story of anne frank and skeevy when bridget had to "find her inspiration" by looking to paul's death. i mean, sure it's touching and everything, and great, that they're paying tribute to john's death...but that's a little much. i like the james garner and david spade roles though...david spade has not only brought laughter back to the show, but to the set and cast as well.

I loved John when he was on the show. Since James and David came to the show, I think the show is still enjoyable to watch. I think there were more funny moments this season than there were last season.

The dad was always in a uptight mood telling the girls what to do. Don't get me wrong, I loved the dad. But with CJ and Grandpa, there are more funnier moments. They always joke around with the kids.

I don't think the show has gotten better or worse. It's just different. Most of the show's humor from last season was derived from this dad freaking out that his daughters were growing up. That's what set it apart from other family sitcoms out there. It isn't like that anymore, obviously, so in a way, it's less special now. I still think it's funny, though, but like some of you, I don't look forward to it as much as I used to.

The show is just not very good anymore without John!

Until David Spade came in,I was about to quit watching it.David helped out James Garner's character

David Spade IS one of the reasons why I've lost interest! His smarmy sense of humor is bringing the show down!:mad:
