View Full Version : The Third Season
magellan333 03-29-2004, 06:39 PM I am having reservations about purchasing the 3rd Season. I enjoyed the 2nd enough, but was sort of reminded of the poor writing quality of the show. Good acting and characters; but the writing was kind of bland and there was no continuity. Can anybody hear cite and memorable third season episodes that would make Season 3 worth buying (when and if it is released)?

Speaking for myself, I want any and all seasons that get released. I don't recall if the 3rd Season was good or not, but the completist in me wants it all regardless. I just wouldn't want 1/2 of a series in my collection, especially if the other 1/2 was available for purchase. I just don't like holes in my collection.
Besides, it's all subjective anyway. Sure, I thought some episodes were better than others. Some seemed just downright silly, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a fan of any show that didn't feel the same way about their favorite sitcom. Favorite shows of mine like Three's Company, Friends, Will & Grace, The Golden Girls, Designing Women, and The Hogan Family (a show I preferred when it was Valerie) have had moments where the episodes stank out loud, but if anything was to be released on any of these series (some already have), I'd be all over it.
I'd count on Season 3 being released. I think they'll at least get up to the season where Janet Jackson joins the cast. I'm sure they're counting on her involvement will sell a lot of copies, and then after that, it's just one more season to complete the series. Might as well go for broke and get them all (again, it's the completist in me!).
Season 3 I'll definitely get if only that it was John Amos' last season. What say any of you?

Lady T 04-01-2004, 02:42 AM I cannot recall if the third season was good or not; all I know that it was the last season with John Amos..I just hope that the 3rd season is released on DVD and soon....:)

When Florida's Nephew Cleatus was in the Newspaper as a Suspect for Robbing a Bank and then he all of a sudden shows up at the Evans Apt for a Visit which was really a hideout because he was running from the police. Then Michael wanted to help Cleatus take his suitcase to the bedroom and it accidently fell open and all the money falls out he took from the bank.
Does any of this sound like you seen th episode before?
Brian Damage 04-01-2004, 11:36 PM I've seen it that's when Cletus tries to take Michael hostage, but the lights go out and James gets the gun away from Cletus.

I remember when that episode was shown on TBS and i never knew why the lights went out-LOL That's because the TBS version of that episode started after that part with the lights going out from the Stereo

I co-sign on everything you said. Well, everything except Friends, Will & Grace, The Golden Girls and Designing Women being favorite shows :D , but yes, I'll get any and all Good Times seasons they release on dvd.
boechsner 04-02-2004, 01:16 AM The third season is a great season. The best episodes, in my opinion being:
The Family Gun
A Real Cool Job
The Weekend
A Place to Die
J.J.'s Fiancee (Parts 1 and 2)
Sweet Daddy Williams
Florida the Woman

And you forgot to read! It said in my opinion.
double-t 04-15-2004, 01:29 PM Yeah, the weekend in the cabin with Judy Pace and James was a classic!
Especially, when she offers to autograph his calendar. James tries to shove it off.

I agree. I'll buy all of them, too. And you're right. There are no fans of any sitcoms out there that love absolutely every episode of there favorite shows. I was a die-hard 'Diff'rent Strokes' fan and I thought most of the episodes after the second season sucked but I still watched it religiously.

Why would the season when Janet Jackson joins the season generate a lot of sales????
jamesanthony 04-17-2004, 12:38 PM I think the Janet Jackson episodes would sell because people would want to see what she was like as a child. Plus there are fans who are completists and would want to have the whole series in their collection. Plus I'm sure there are fans who probably think that year 5 or 6 were their personal favorites. The famous episode where JJ dreams he turned white overnight is from year 5.

It's pretty self-explanatory, and I think you know that. Any die-hard fan of hers would pick it up to have ANYTHING on her, even if they're not fans of Good Times. So while some disgruntled fans would not buy it (I think there are fewer of those than you think), those of us who are completists will want ALL seasons, and Janet Jackson fans will want their fave singer when she made her debut.
