I finally got my player hooked up after a year and I think that it needs cleaned. When it plays the DVD's (any of them, I tried several) the picture turns light to dark, like fading in and out. It's weird. So I want to try and get the inside of cleaned. How do I do that?

Do they make cleaning "discs" like they do for VCR's?

yes, they sell dvd's that you just put into the player and it cleans it...don't ask me how, they sell them at FYE though.

Yep...they have them at Suncoast, too. Wherever DVD's are sold, they should have them... :) I've seen them too.

I've seen them at Target too, but I've never used one.

Do you happen to have the DVD player hooked up to a VCR? I had that problem with mine. When you have it hooked up to the VCR, it does that because of copyright protection.

Oh yeah I do actually. I have to run it through the VCR to play it. How would I fix that then?

If you can't hook it up directly to your tv you might have to buy an RF modulator, I had to for mine, I was warned by several people that it's not good on the DVD player to use it through the VCR, an RF modulator runs close to $45 depending on where you buy it, I got mine from Radio Shack so I paid more.

Yeah, that's exactly what I had to do. I also got it from Radio Shack and I believe it was around $40.
