Who do you like better, Judy Hensler or Penny Woods? I originally saw Judy and then when I saw Penny, Penny seemed like the better character, but now I like Judy better.

What do you think?

Though they were both "creeps," as Beaver would say, Judy was a better actor IMO, and could actually be pretty funny!

I agree that Judy was funnier and a better actress. That creepiness seemed to come naturally to her. Penny was just annoying.

I read somewhere that Jerry Mathers said what a good person Jeri Weil (Judy) is and that he still keeps in touch with her. She was a great actress.

I didn't like Penny Woods, but I liked Karen Sue Trent as the little girl with the horse in the dancing school episode.:talk:

When I first started watching, I liked Penny much better. She seemed like a better, funnier character.

But when I started watching the episodes in the next cycle, I found that I greatly preffered Judy and that Penny's jokes were more stale than funny.

I like Judy better because she was the original creepy girl, and Penny just wasn't as good at being a creep! I always thought she wasn't a good replacement for Judy, and I always liked Judy better as the creepy little tattletale teacher's pet wannabe in Beaver's class. :talk: :)

Judy was more of a creep.

I liked Penny better. I think she should've been on the show more. Like up until the end of the series. I liked how in the one episode where she almost moved away and Beaver admitted to liking her (or whatever it was) but then when she ended up staying he thought she was a "creep" again. I hated Judy. If I was the teacher and Judy made some remark I would've slapped her!

Boy, I'm sure I wouldn't have liked Judy if she were in my class back in those days...

Judy was definitely the better actress, and a more memorable charcter of the two. Penny was prettier...

The question is hard to answer. Neither character is likable.

Well, I guess I would "more" like the character who is less dis-likable. And that is Penny.

Semi off-topic…

The Buzzr diginet has rights to The Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour, from 1983-84.

One week highlighted actors from “Beaver” returning. Jeri Weil (Judy) was one of them—and although I’m sure that she was paid a fair amount to appear, she really looked like she didn’t wanna be there. Maybe that sincere of her, or maybe she was trying to emulate Judy! I say the former though.

This also was weird…..on one week, “celebrity” Kim Hood, anchorwoman at NBC affiliate WISH-TV in Indianapolis, was on. Who? Huh?

It shouldn’t have been that hard to get someone semi-FAMOUS to fill a chair!

It might have been on one of the DVD special features that I heard someone interview Jeri Weil. I have heard other cast members interviewed, and they always give interesting tidbits about their time on the show--except Jeri. Same didn't wanna be there attitude you noticed.

Judy was always a sourpuss on every episode she was in and was never anything but a louse to Beaver! I go with Penny.

Judy was always a sourpuss on every episode she was in and was never anything but a louse to Beaver! I go with Penny.
And despite that, I'm still fascinated with her.
When I saw a recent video over how Jeri Wehl quit the show because the producers and costume designers were going a little too out of their way to cover up her emerging puberty, I felt kind of bad for her.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXwiPOlHqKw
Years later when she was all grown up and all the puberty issues were over, she appeared on an episode of "Still the Beaver." I didn't have cable TV at the time so I didn't see it, but some people posted the episode on YouTube, including clips from their first reunion scene. She's just as arrogant and stuck-up as she was when she was a kid.

I kind of wish the "Still the Beaver" episode mentioned Judy hitting a home run and twirling when she was a kid.

With Karen Sue Trent, the situation was more tragic. It wasn't her role as Penny Woods that ruined her, but a guest spot on "The Rifleman" where she broke her arm on the set.

So, while Penny was a more likeable character than Judy, I still feel kind of torn.

If I remember correctly the CAST all felt she was actually a really sweet girl in real life- and just acted the jerk VERY WELL

that is what makes a great actress - Bravo Judy !

Ugh! I'm so pissed at myself for not throwing in a Lost in Space joke, when I had the chance.
