View Full Version : A Thought On The 3-Part "Wingless" Story

The 3-part "Wingless" saga isn't going to be shown AGAIN on NICK....The only time that NICK showed this one was during it's "Viewer Appreciation Summer" of the first cycle.

I was wondering about this....there now seems to be a conscious effort by NICK NOT to show this story, and I was wondering why....then I had a thought....

Could it be because of the WICKEDLY CRUEL (but admittedly HILARIOUS) spoof of "The Judds" in Part 2?

That episode has a mother-and-daughter Country and Western duo called "The Todds" booking a touring jet through Sandpiper...and the duo are a RIGHT-ON spoof of Ashley and Namoi Judd! (The thin, sexy-looking mother and the overweight daughter).

However, it doesn't end there....the mother and daughter quarrel endlessly, with Daughter calling Mom a drunken tramp and Mom calling Daughter a "fat cow". I'm wondering if the Judds ever got wind of this episode during a rerun cycle and took legal action to stop it from being shown again.

It really was quite an insulting spoof....as I say, it was very FUNNY, but I DO see how it could have offended the Judds....

Just a thought!

DUH.....WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING???? The Judds' first names are WYNONNA and Naomi....Not ASHLEY!

Believe me, I DO know a LITTLE something about Country music....It was just one of those early messages that I was typing before I had my morning coffee!

Another thought on this 3-parter....

I've recently watched my videotape of the 3 "Wingless" episodes (when NICK ran it as part of it's "Viewer Appreciation Summer"), and I'm very impressed at how good the story is....especially for an 8th season entry!

While most (or at least MUCH) of the 8th season gives us rather sluggish episodes that are mere shadows of past seasons, "Wingless" is an ambitious, well-written, interesting and just plain FUNNY story that can hold it's own against episodes from earlier seasons.

It's nice to see that even in Season 8 the cast and writers could rally together and still give us a first-rate story instead of just coasting!

I have to admit, the Wingless episodes were better than I expected. I liked the Judds spoof and watching Joe lose his cool. I actually laughed out loud when Fay was yelling at the kid and she was still smiling. One of the few times that I thought Fay was funny. And what was Helen doing in the men's room?

I did say they didn't plan to play it this time around. But I believe they are going to. The names of the characters were Nina and Tammy Todd. Yes they are an almost exact replica of the Judds but they can't take action against that, because although they had the same actions they had different names. Now, if they had the same first names or the same lasts names, maybe then, but I don't think you can take action against something like this inless it shows an extremely close or actual non-action related type of thingy.

I'm 15 so what do I know? Actually, I should know this because I've seen someone fail trying to take action against this before.

If they knew they were spoofing on the Judds, then the judds can take action, but otherwise, no.
