..people win? I mean, at anything. A sport, a board game, any competition, etc.? Sometimes when I'm doing something against a friend or relative and I am winning, sometimes I want to let them win, but that doesn't do them any favors because when you lose, typically you're motivated to practice and get better 'til you're good enough to win and it can't be said that it was a "real win" if someone lets you win. I did a report on the life of Michael Jordan in school one time, and I read that his older brother never, ever, EVER let Michael win in basketball, and look what happened! So, I never let anyone win because I personally believe it's not good for them.

On the other hand, if the person is too young to understand competition, I mean babies and stuff, I let them win, because how are you gonna have a true-blue game wit someone like that in the first place?

I don't. Like I was playing Battleship the other day with my neighbors 8 yr old daughter and I didn't let her win because like you said, it wouldn't be good for her. She was a very good sport about losing and didn't run off whining like some kids would. I did give her a few pointers on how to play better though. It's much better to help someone like that than to let them win.

When my 6yr old daughter plays a game with me I let her experience the defeat also. That not all the time she's going to get her way, there are rules to follow and get over defeat. That's the only way she's going to learn how to live in the real world!

Only if they're under the age of 8, but I usually lose at everything anyway. :)
