View Full Version : Is it possible to like every episode of a certain show?
TVFactFan 03-23-2004, 05:37 PM Someone was trying to tell me that they loved all the episodes of Three's Company and i was like that can't be possible. How can someone like every single episode of a TV series? is there anyone out there who also likes every episode of a show? I love the Jeffersons, ALL in the family and Three's Company but i don;'t think every episode is funny.

Yes, I like all six episodes of Under One Roof.

Obviously i'm talking about a show with more than 6 eps.
FamilyTiesGOP 03-23-2004, 07:50 PM I don't think most people could like every episode. I know that I love Family Ties, but out of 180 episodes, there are a few episodes (I would say less than 10) that I just do not like. There are others that are just not very exciting. I also love Mama's Family, but out of 130 episodes, there are a few that I don't like.
They don't have to be rotten episodes not to be liked, but sometimes I just don't connect with the storyline.
Penny Lane 03-23-2004, 09:00 PM It would be hard to like every episode of a long running sitcom. All of my faves like Mama's Family, Newhart and Roseanne(especially Roseanne!) have eps that I don't like. But in the cases of Mama and Newhart I watch them anyway!:happyface
Brian 03-23-2004, 09:03 PM I've seen every episode of My Favorite Martian and, as much as I love the series, there were a few episodes that I wasn't too fond of. I have seen almost all of the 116 Charlie's Angels episodes (about 105-110) and there were some eps that I didn't like. I am sure that if I were to watch every episode of my favorite long-running series (shows with 3 or more seasons and/or 100+ episodes) I would come across several episodes that I would find mediocre and unlikable.
MaydayMalonesGirl 03-23-2004, 09:12 PM I can honestly say I don't dislike any episodes of Cheers. There are some eps that I love, and some I just like but I don't dislike any. I mean, the episodes where Sam and Rebecca are trying to have a baby gross me out, but I still like them :p

I know, I was just being a smart aleck. There is one show where I like each official episode, although there are more that might be considered part of the series: the classic 39 Honeymooners episodes. There wasn't one episode i didn't like, but aside from that I don't think there's a series where I like every single episode.

Yes! I love every episode of Boy Meets World. Im the kind of person, that when I love a show, there's not much about I hate, unless they start ruining the show with a bunch of unnecessary changes
dawsongirl 03-23-2004, 10:16 PM Uh....for short lived ones, yes, but for longer ones...doubtful. I think the closest I can come is Futurama. I can't think of any off the top of my head I don't like, but there's one I'm sure.
But everything else...there's at least a couple. Bad plot, fav. character isn't there, annoying supporting character is there, etc.
Nanny Fine 03-23-2004, 10:42 PM I loved every episode of The Nanny. There is not one single episode that I could not see again and not miss. There are episodes that I like MORE (Imaginary Friend, The Whine Cellar, etc) but I like them all.

Probably the one where they visit Zoidberg's uncle in Hollywood and they direct that movie. It was so painful to sit through that one.
Other than that, I like every other episode of Futurama. The only series I like every single episode to is Family Guy - all 51 of them.
HuntingtonM15 03-23-2004, 10:45 PM Depending on the show, I think it's possible.

I was going to say that as well, but I can't stand the episode where they show that women who gets the job at the hair salon (It was a failed spin-off attempt.) Some parts were funny, but overall, the plot was really dull and no wonder the show never picked up.

Yeah that one was called The Chatterbox. I'd still watch it if it were on.
Like I LOVE FRIENDS but there are a few episodes that when they come on I'll turn the channel because I dont like them. The most obvious one of those for me is The One with The Baby on the Bus. I just don't find that one funny AT ALL.
But it's not like that with The Nanny.

Oh yeah....or the one where Zoidberg eats the flag. Zoidberg is just a problem.
Lady T 03-24-2004, 12:15 AM In my opinion no...Out of all of my favorite Shows like Sanford and Son..I can name at least five episodes that I loathed

Haven't seen that one yet. But now that I think, I haven't seen a bad Nanny yet. I'm rewatching them now and kind of remembering them from when I watched them on CBS.

Did you like every episode of Hogan Heroes?-LMAO
Pricelessmemories 03-24-2004, 01:54 AM No, I don't think it's possible to like every episode.

Yea, that one too....although I still liked that episode, if just for this one line.
Bender: "Hey, I started hating Zoidberg before it was cool!"
I think we all did.

Glampire 03-24-2004, 01:24 PM When I first viewed this topic, I was going to say "NO", but upon thinking about it, I've got to say that in my life I have indeed liked every episode of a certain show. That show is "Soap". I think it went for about 85 episodes, and I can honestly saw that I've seen them all and I enjoy them all. :)
Dean Winchester 03-24-2004, 03:06 PM while there are episodes that "aren't faves", I will admit that I can watch all 144 episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer without having an episode that I cannot stand (even Beer Bad I find enjoyment from, and that's regarded as the worst episode ever). Some of season 1 was cheesy, and I didn't like season 7 as much as earlier seasons, but if an episode is on and I have time to watch, I'll watch the whole thing.
I am the same way with Sex And The City, there are a few episodes I don't consider among the best they've done, but if I see it on and I have the time to watch it, I will watch it.
LucyFan 03-24-2004, 08:31 PM It's possible - - - I'm proof of it. I like every single episode of I Love Lucy, yes, all 181 of them! I have seen them all at least 10 times each and I still watch them.
Brian Damage 03-25-2004, 11:50 AM I was going to say I liked every episode of Seinfeld, but some of the early episodes leaved something to be desired.
I love every episode of Police Squad, Family Guy, and Chappelle's show.

If it weren't for that one, I could honestly say I love every episode of "The Nanny" to one degree or another. Obviously, we all have our favorites, but every ep. has some good stuff in it.
tvfan0101 03-25-2004, 04:48 PM I think it is possible to like/enjoy every episode of a certain show, it just doesn't happen that often.
I'm a huge fan of M*A*S*H and I can't actually think of any episodes I really dislike, I'm sure there are a few I'm not fond of, but if it is on TV I'll watch whatever episodes is on. The same can be said for Friends. With Friends, however, I watch the show for laughs and not for some deeper meaning and considering the fact that just about every episode has laughs -even if just one or two- I'm satisfied. Occasionally I'll watch two hours of Friends in a row and not be bothered.
On a non-sitcom note, there are some episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation that I just can't stand (Season Two, anyone?) yet I still consider myself a fan of the show. It really depends on what aspect of the show you're trying to enjoy and, of course, the show itself.
amuzed mini 03-25-2004, 04:54 PM I don't know if it's possible to LOVE everything single episode... There are short lived ones that I really enjoy, but I don't think that one season of The Tick really counts.
It's not M*A*S*H -- love that show, but to say that I enjoyed every minute of every show would be a bit too much...

Every minute of every show, no. I'll agree that it is unlikely even the most dedicated fan of any show could love every moment of the show.
There are parts of a lot of episodes of M*A*S*H I don't like. But I think there are redeeming qualities in just about every show, personally.
GoldenFamilyTies 03-25-2004, 05:04 PM I like every single episode of The Golden Girls...

Kristen 03-25-2004, 11:01 PM I should've said in my earlier post, I like every episode of "Mary Tyler Moore." Some just took longer than others to grow on me, but every ep. has something good in it to like.
barwars 03-25-2004, 11:14 PM I like every episode (that Ive seen so far) of Cheers and Frasier.
Ant-Lox 03-26-2004, 04:16 AM Out of all the episodes of Seinfeld I have seen, I have enjoyed all of them. I like all 9 seasons with season 9 being my favorite. I can watch them over and over because each season has a different feeling.

March.Madness 03-26-2004, 08:55 PM I think it's possible for people to like every episode of a show cancelled too soon or a series that just happens to be short.
For example, it's more believable to hear that a person likes every episode of The Office or Andy Richter Controls Universe than it is to hear that someone likes EVERY episode of Seinfeld or any show that has lasted more than 2 seasons.

Yeah you are right. I guess my question should have been Is it possible to like every episode of a long running sitcom.

I believe I do like all the Episodes of Seinfeld, their's only One episode that I haven't seen yet.
Dogma66603 03-27-2004, 02:12 AM The Simpsons has many episodes that I don't like (most, if not all in seasons 9-15)
Roseanne had a lot I don't like (most from seasons 1 and 2 and seasons 8 and 9 and more than a few in between)
Mama's Family - I don't like most of the NBC episodes but there are only a few syndicated episodes I don't like (actually only one off the top of my head: the "Hate Thy Neighbor" episode")
King of the Hill - Most in seasons 7 and 8 and not many before that.
Family Guy - That last chunk of season 3 was pretty terrible.
Futurama - Some episodes were subpar and a few were terrible.
I think its impossible.
db108108 03-28-2004, 03:29 AM I will stick by Roseanne until the day I die, but there are many episodes from seasons 1, 2 & 8 that I would have poke my eyeballs out than watch again.
As for season 9, it's like a trainwreck. The ultimate badness of the episodes and how they totally veered off track make them impossible not to watch
Belair 03-10-2005, 05:39 AM There's definetly not one show that I like every episode of.Every show has its crappy episode in my opinion.
Dean Winchester 03-10-2005, 01:59 PM well, there's a difference between "this isn't a very good episode" and "I can't stomach to watch it". There is not one episode of Buffy that I won't watch, but there are some that I would definately agree are the worst of the series, but I'll still watch them.
boechsner 03-10-2005, 02:14 PM That's shocking
Not really, I too can honestly say, there is not one episode of The Golden Girls that I dislike. The closest one would be Empty Nests, but it's the scenes with the girls that saves that episode from being a dislike for me.
snl75 03-10-2005, 08:00 PM no i havent seen one show that ive liked every single ep of every one here knows how much i like friends and that 70s show but even they have had lousy eps. i like mash too but the out of the last 3 seasons there are maybe 15 eps that i even liked the rest yuck.

I still can't think of one show where I liked every ep. The closet would be Fresh Prince, I would say I like 85% of all the FP eps.
Skywalker 03-10-2005, 09:49 PM I like every episode of Seinfeld.
barwars 03-10-2005, 10:01 PM I like every episode (that Ive seen so far) of Cheers and Frasier.
Frasier is still my second favorite series, but there are some episodes that I could do without.
Whereas with Cheers, there are only something like 3 or 4 episodes I haven't seen -- and I like every last one of them.
slackermonkey 03-10-2005, 10:47 PM I find something to like about every episode of Seinfeld and Friends. Some are better than others obviously, but I wouldn't say there are any episodes of either show I wished I'd never seen.
Number 9 Dream 03-11-2005, 01:46 AM As much as I LOVE Three's Company(hell, I just watch it every damned night), I can admit that there are some episodes I don't find particularly exciting.
I Love John Ritter 03-12-2005, 11:46 PM Of course, "Three's Company" is my favorite, and I love it to death, but there is one episode (Besides the last three) that I absoultley hate and can't stand watching. I do think it's possible for someone to like every single episode of a show, but even the best sitcoms have their boring episodes.
Caffeine King 03-13-2005, 02:28 AM The only episode of My So Called Life that isn't that great to me is Halloween.
It's not that great but I till find it watchable.
hpluba 03-13-2005, 02:53 AM well, it depends on how much i like a sitcom. see, since i'm a HUGE fan of Married With Children, I enjoy every single episode. even if it's not very funny, I still enjoy it. being obsessed with a show can do that to you. lol.
Superstar 03-13-2005, 03:48 AM Usually, you cant like every single episode

That's my favorite One...Great Show!
But there are two shows for myself that I liked every episode of, both are short-lived (so maybe it is a bit unfair)...

Yes, I love all episodes of Boy Meets World, Lois and Clark, Bosom Buddies, etc......
dawsongirl 03-17-2005, 04:12 PM Okay, I changed my mind. Though "Clinic on 18th Street" was one of those pilot-to-hopefully-launch-a-new-show episodes and Reed and Malloy were in it for like 2 seconds, it's really not bad. So I do like every episode of Adam-12.
Brent88 03-17-2005, 08:35 PM Even my all-time favorite sitcoms have several episodes I don't like. Some are just a general dislike, but a select few I cannot stand to watch.
