Desi supposedly wore lifts in his shoes to look taller than Lucy during the filming of ILL. However, in many candid shots that I've seen of them in the 40s when they were out and about, it appears obvious that Desi is taller than Lucy. Is it possible that he could have been wearing lifts in his shoes even then? It just seems so strange. I'd love to see a photo of them shoeless and back to back to solve this mystery once and for all!

I don't think Desi was THAT short. Probably he was built different and it made him look shorter but it wasn't that much of a difference with Lucy's height..On one episode he states to be 5'11 1/2 BUT his face says something else if you know what I mean :lol:

I agree, he wasn't that short but she was very tall and slender, 5 7 i think, so of course they looked to be the same height! With her high heels and loving TALL men, he started feeling self concious about it and wore those lifts, nothing wrong with that, all stars do things to make themselves look better. Lucy wore low shoes in her later series even for Gale, and she even presented her co star in Mame Robert Preston some elevator shoes for their secenes together. Which he didn't take and might have been insulted by, but she just wanted it to look better on screen, i mean come on, she LOVED Frankie Avalon and he was very short. Sammy Davis was a friend, don't know about Danny DeVito, but he did name one of his daughters Lucy, LOL!

yeah, I think that's probably right. :)

Except in the Franistan episode when he came back disguised as the killer, there he looked 6 feet four. I think there were stilts in his elevator shoes.

Come on, admit it, if you look closely enough there's even a trickle of blood coming out of his nose, it was the altitude!
