(Real Life folks)
Start of Class...
Teacher: Today, we're covering education...Alright....Seth (me)...What is Education?
Me: "A Steaming Pile of Crap"
And, I continued to rant about EACH AND EVERY FLAW in the ENTIRE Public Education system from Kindergarten trhough Graduation for several minutes.
Eventually, we proceed through the day's notes. Then we hit the subtopic "Issues of Education". #3 was: Bilinguals.
..All hell broke loose over the most trivial matter ever...Keep in mind the teacher was already blanked off from my rant...
She said the word "Bli-Ling-wuhl". The resident class smartass (no, not me) (running joke, he always does this) said "I believe it's pronounced Bi-Ling-U-Al"
She proceeded to go on a 5 minute tear in which she said
"Well I'M SORRY if MY pronounciation UPSETS you. That's just the way *I* was tought to say the word. It was part of my Southern Raisin's, and I'm sorry if YOU have a problem with that.
IF *YOU* have a problem with MY class (Looks at him, then glances at me), there's the door, don't let it hit you on the way out, It's no skin off my back if you DO leave. ".. And so on and so on for FIVE minutes. (I would have walked out, but I need the SS credit to graduate)
OF course, during the rant:
Me:? Southern Raisin's? That's what I had for breakfast this morning
Friend: THIS is how our school system is inferior. Teachers and their "raisins". (Mumbling)Personally, I wish she'd take her Raisins and Eat 'em already
---
Then, as if that wasn't enough, we found out that starting tomorrow, we're covering Religion (leads to a lot of..uh..comments and thrown objects EVERY time). And, just to cap off the hour from the Twilight Zone..The *front page* headline of the Lexington Herald-Leader (I'm 99% sure it was the FRONT frontpage, although It might have been a cleverly disguised sports section) was "40 Minutes of $#%@!"
--
And that's my life..
