Ever notice that June resembles Everybody Loves Raymond's Marie Barone in several aspects.
1. She can be intrusive. Cases in point. Poking through the boys garbage can and reading Beaver's diary.
2. She's overprotective. The previous posts on the brussels sprouts episode where she makes Beaver stay home while everyone else goes to the football game until Ward lets Beaver go. The restaurant scene is definitely the tip of the iceberg.
3. She frequently invades the boys privacy, listening in on phone calls.
4. She interferes in Wally's social life, as seen in the Ginny Townsend episode.
Those types of incidents are what Marie Barone was like years later and frequently caused friction between Marie and Debra.
