If he were alive today do you think he would be married or single?
Semi retired or fully retired?
Still in love with Lucy?

View Full Version : Who here LOVES Desi? desilutoo 03-20-2004, 12:15 PM If he were alive today do you think he would be married or single? Semi retired or fully retired? Still in love with Lucy? Kazza 03-20-2004, 12:34 PM Living with Lucy happily ever after Amber8611 03-20-2004, 01:12 PM I think he would be fully retired, married to Edie (if she were still alive). crazyredhead 03-20-2004, 06:11 PM *sniff* :crying: Desi, Desi, Desi... Fran=Lucy 03-21-2004, 03:33 PM Well, I think he would be semi-retired, maybe writing more books about him or the show i guess..hehe..OH! and of course, very much in love with Lucy. :D :p :D Kazza 03-21-2004, 04:13 PM Originally posted by Fran=Lucy Well, I think he would be semi-retired, maybe writing more books about him or the show i guess..hehe..OH! and of course, very much in love with Lucy. :D :p :D He was gonna write the second part to' A BOOK' but sadly his health was failing and his memory wasn't sharp anymore:( Fran=Lucy 03-21-2004, 04:36 PM Yeah, I read somewhere that he wanted to do a follow-up book called "Another Book" but didn't do it...and wow, I didn't know that he couldn't write it because he was feeling sick! Now, that makes me really sad. :( lucyrules 03-21-2004, 09:00 PM I think Desi would still be married to Edie, He would be semi- retired, and definitely in love with Lucy. I wonder what he would have done if he was alive when Lucy died. :( SPLAIN 03-22-2004, 10:23 AM Yup, i agree, but he'd be very sick by this age though, after all that smoking, and those Cuban cigars. He was a great human being, father, visionary in producing, in shor a great man. I too wish to remember him as a man who would still be missing and loving Lucy. Ricardos4ever 03-22-2004, 01:30 PM Originally posted by Fran=Lucy Yeah, I read somewhere that he wanted to do a follow-up book called "Another Book" but didn't do it...and wow, I didn't know that he couldn't write it because he was feeling sick! Now, that makes me really sad. :( I still wonder why they thought about doing a follow-up to his first book, because one of the reasons they ended "A Book" were they did -- with the end of his marriage to Lucy -- was because they felt that the rest of his life was just too depressing, so they cut the end out. Having known that, why would they want to do another book that resumed after the divorce when his life was depressing? It doesn't make much sense. lucyrules 03-22-2004, 02:14 PM Awww poor Desi!:( I wish Desi and Lucy could have had a happier ending!:crying: SPLAIN 03-22-2004, 02:32 PM A Book, sold well, hence the mentions of a sequel. Like Lucy, every fan wants an update on their later lives, but it's always glossed over as uninteresting, but not to us! He went through such hell just doing the first part, i agree that it would not have been possible to remember the rest, which wasn't clearly documented, but at least some people were still around, who could have helped, which was not the case on the first book. I remember one time his calling Lucy and asking why she had divorced him in 1944. You'd think he'd know the answer to that one. Lucy replied, WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU BRING THAT UP NOW AND BESIDES IT WAS THE SHORTEST DIVORCE ON RECORD . . . you were sc****** every woman, bingo girl and Copa girl at Birmingham hospital, and what hurt the most is that it was I who was supplying them to you. crazyredhead 03-22-2004, 05:07 PM Yeah, I laughed when I read that. I can't believe he called her then and asked that! SPLAIN 03-23-2004, 10:59 AM Yeah, LOL! I think the spression is putting OIL on the FIRE< LOL! NostalgiaAce777 03-23-2004, 02:23 PM Well the Lucy Desi Home movie comes to mind. If they both came back, (which we all know is kinda of fantasmal), But I would have no doubt that Lucy would want to be with Desi. ABSOLUTLY NO DOUBT in my mind. She loved him, He loved her, Maybe things he did were not right, but their love for eachother was Intense and tenacious and you could ask everyone they ever knew about that. Maybe somewhere right now, they are leading some conga line (could you picture them at THEIR AGE doing this?) and loving on eachother like it is going out of style. Things SHE did were not right either; it takes two to tango;) SPLAIN 03-23-2004, 02:40 PM She didn't drink, gamble and fool around with everything around her, what did she do exactly Karen? And both of them leading a conga line in heaven is very dangerous, broken hips at that age are lethal, LOL! NostalgiaAce777 03-23-2004, 02:44 PM I know but I thought it was a funny visionary. SPLAIN 03-23-2004, 02:47 PM Welcome to the site by the way, and i always heard that in heaven you always look and feel your best, so that means they both look like their I Love Lucy years anyway, so conga away guys! Hope Gary and Edie are dancing together also. Kazza 03-23-2004, 05:49 PM Originally posted by SPLAIN She didn't drink, gamble and fool around with everything around her, what did she do exactly Karen? No, but she was a workaholic, control freak and short tempered (just like you) crazyredhead 03-23-2004, 05:52 PM Woahhhh..*walks out of here quietly* SPLAIN 03-23-2004, 05:55 PM Nothing wrong with being a workaholic, that's how she made MILLIONS for her kids, didn't waste it all like he did. And your temper is just as bad as mine, and both of theirs, being a Leo, controlling people is our main trait. Any others? Kazza 03-23-2004, 06:00 PM Originally posted by SPLAIN Nothing wrong with being a workaholic, that's how she made MILLIONS for her kids, didn't waste it all like he did. Any others? I know that I have a bad temper but I don't let any Leo's rule my life!:D SPLAIN 03-24-2004, 11:24 AM Well, you know what they say, KNOWING the problem is halfway to the solution, or something like that. You and I have passed the stage where we get angry anymore at what we each say, like you once stated, neither of us is going to change our minds about what we think, so let's just try and be fair that's all!;) NostalgiaAce777 03-24-2004, 01:23 PM Just agree to disagree that's all. "this is my opinion and that is yours. You're not gonna change mine, and I'm not gonna change yours, but we agree to hear eachother out and keep an open mind" God knows we don't need a war. We already have enough of that uneeded stuff going on elsewhere in the world. SPLAIN 03-24-2004, 02:14 PM Well, geez, don't get me started on THAT! LOL! crazyredhead 03-24-2004, 05:00 PM Yes, don't get him started on THAT! SPLAIN 03-24-2004, 05:05 PM Weapons of mass destruction indeed, more like an excuse to go finish dad's badly done job. Hey, my favorite joke about this. True story. They found Saddam's palaces and the two sons places and one of the sons had these piles of porn tapes so Jay Leno had the best joke, he said well at least they found the weapons of masturba****. I thought that was a riot! crazyredhead 03-24-2004, 05:26 PM LOL!! NostalgiaAce777 03-25-2004, 10:37 AM Hey that is pretty funny. I agree with ya there pal. Finishing Daddy's dirty work is correct. Oy Vey! Good thing I am not a Dixie Chick or I will get in trouble for saying this, but he has definitely ruined the word FREEDOM for me. Since he tried to "protect" our freedom, we lost it instead. He gave it to the Iraqi's. and as Forrest Gump said, ..."That's all I am gonna say about that!" Beleive me I too could go on about that all day long. But this is neither appropriate time or place. SPLAIN 03-25-2004, 10:47 AM I'm actually gonna say something sacreligious here that i never thought i would say but i think both Lucy and Desi would agree. What's more important, talking about two dead people who had a show 50 years ago or the future of our world as we know it? Lucy is my all time favorite performer, a comic genius who will never be topped, but if she were here, she'd probably say the same things you and I did. Free speech means you can say anything you want, that's what America is all about, when they don't have a logical argument for you, they call you a traitor instead, it's much easier than having a logical answer to your comments. One morning in '65, they interrupted an I Love Lucy rerun to bring congressional hearings on Vietnam, the people protested, and Fred Friendly quit in disgust that his network CBS thought about the profits of I love Lucy over the war in Vietnam, guess what? Lucy totally agreed with mr Friendly and she backed him 100%. NostalgiaAce777 03-25-2004, 11:13 AM Well we had no business in Vietnam, just like we have no real business in Iraq. Personally I think Bush was just out looking for a fight, to defend Daddy's name. Oh and of course the Oil and Petroleom supply. My goodness, and now he is so frazzled he invested money in Nasa, sent that robot to Mars, not to look for Martians my friend, but to root around for oil, and I am sure if there are Martians there, we will have our first interplanetary conflict, because I am sure he will say they have weapons of mass destruction too. Who knows, maybe he is not only looking for a new oil well, but perhaps Osama Bin Laden is hiding a cave somewhere up there. Live From Mars: [picture of Osama Bin Laden with someone swabbing a stick in his mouth:0] Capture of Osama Bin Laden...found hiding in some grungy, ill ventilated Martian basement. SPLAIN 03-25-2004, 12:24 PM True, the only reason for going there was the fact that the country sits on one fifth of the world's oil supplies. And the Bush family is much too friendly with the Saudi Kings, always protecting them and covering up their actions, wonder how much they contribute to his campaigns. We'd better stop this political talk though, all politicians are scum anyway, filling up their pockets and lying to us all the time, they're all the same! NostalgiaAce777 03-25-2004, 01:01 PM Yeah , we're going way too off subject anyways. That's the thing with me, someone starts a good topic like that and I go with it. I have been trying to find a good message board that talks about a variety of subjects like, life, politics, dreams, personal. It would be nice to get a good group of friends together to do that. Know where I can find any friends? LOL!!! Sorry bad joke. I am kind of a loner. I have a few friends, but my friends aren't on line....they don't do the internet thingy. I used to know some people on the net a while back, but I really haven't kept contact with them. Anyways back to the subject at hand. I have this visionary of Lucy and Desi in heaven having a party at Their Desilu Ranchero in the sky, with all their friends and family. being happy and laughing, just like it was back in the 40's. I don't think she was anymore happier than she was in the 40's at that ranch with Desi. Eventhough they had their fights, the passion was omnipresent between them. You can tell by looking at their pictures, and watching the Home movie. Lord I cannot wait until that Scrapbook comes out. SPLAIN 03-25-2004, 01:54 PM Well, i think MOST people are happy at the BEGINNING of a marriage, the thing is to try and make it LAST! Remember that they rarely saw each other, she said maybe a year and a half in the first ten years. Try The Lucy Lounge for friends, many nice people there, same as here. |
