We've had a Debra Barone appreciation thread. Now demonstrate to the Debra Barone fans that Debra can be as much a jerk as the other Barones.

I'll start with Debra's inconsideration in the fish for Thanksgiving episode.

Debra infringed on Marie's turn in the rotation to host Thanksgiving Dinner. If Debra had any consideration she would have waited until her mother's turn before offering to host a Thanksgiving. Debra's mother, who acknowledged being a marginal cook in a another episode of ELR, would have gladly ceded host responsibilities to Debra.

Debra kept fish on the menu even after she learned that her guest list had expanded. Serving fish to people who customarily expect turkey on Thanksgiving in not considerate. Remember some of the new guests were transplants from Marie's cancelled Thanksgiving dinner.

Debra ruined Ray's Thanksgiving. Raymond had an ideal Thanksgiving scenario before Debra wrested hosting responsibilities from Marie. He was in line for Marie's delicious food and an entire day of football spectating (There is no way Debra's parents could have annexed the television in Frank Barone's home).

It's funny how Debra lovers never hold Debra accountable for her actions. It's always Ray's family that prompts Debra's occasional less than ideal behavior. Sorry, that wasn't the case in the fish for Thanksgiving episdoe.

C'mon ELR posters. How about some reality checks on the alleged greatest character of all time.

Hi,Contributor! You don't have to analyse every little details
of the show to prouve a point.Do you do the same thing
with every shows that you watch:)I think that Debra can be
a jerk but,her husband is not an angel either. He's lazy,
irresponsable. He can be a really jerk too.I think they all kind
of crazy in that family. That's how the show is suppose to
be:A mommy's boy's husband,a wife cracking down,a over
protective mother-a grumpy father and a jalous brother.
Poor children who have live in that:D

I understand it would be easier for everybody if I just limited my post to "Debra is a jerk" and signed off. However, if I'm going to criticize, I think it's only fair to outline why I think "Debra is a jerk". I analyze to be fair.

No one is saying that Debra doesn't have her moments because she does. However, alot of it comes from being abused from all corners by a crazy family.

When I said that Debra was cracking down.I meant she's
going into a nervous breakdown.Nobody is supporting
her,she has to do everything around the house, has to
put up with her husband's crap and a nosy family-in-law.
Ray is too much under his mother's skirt.Ray said it once
that he really want his wife to be like is mother. That's so
humillianting for a wife to hear that. That's enough to
bring any woman into a nervous breakdown.Franckly,I
wonder what those two have in commun?

Why should anybody support Debra? She certainly doesn't support anybody else. Debra talks about being supportive, but her efforts generally come up short to the talk.

Debra constantly moans about not being appreciated, but how often does Debra express appreciation for what Ray does for the family. Not often and she belittles Ray to the kids to boot.

Remember, the Christmas episode in which Marie and Debra aggrandized themselves at the expense of the rest of the family in a Christmas Card? In essence Ray conceded he withheld information about his being denied promotions at work because he couldn't depend on Debra to be supportive.

Debra laughed at a disappointed Raymond when it appeared that Raymond's friend, Andy, was about to be published in Sports Illustrated.

What crap does Debra take from Ray? Ray is frequently inadequate and clumsy, but he is not a vicious man. He probably takes more crap from Debra than she takes from him.

Debra should do everything around the house. That's the arrangement. Apparently, both agreed when they married that Ray would have bread-winning responsibilities and Debra would have domestic responsibilities.

Debra doesn't help Ray as he earns the family's income, so why should Ray be held responsible for helping Debra maintain the home?

I understand that Debra could be more supportive but, that goes both ways.He doesn't appreciate her either and what about her mother-in-law who always putting her down?I think it's time for Debra to get a job.Her children are old enough. That's the maine problem to beging with.Debra doesn't belong in the house. She should go get a degree and get a good job.She would much more happy because she wouldn't see her in-laws too often. Her attitude will be much better for sure.

Oh what a perfect scenario, get that pain in the derriere OUT of that house and away from her in laws, then maybe she'll do what she wants, become a success at something and stop complaining about everything. Then the buttinsky mom across the street can clean the house and raise her kids while Debra finds a meaningful reason to live, but now she'll be overworked and stressed and still deny Ray some occasional sex, LOL!

She probably has her degree. Remember she was working PR for the NY Rangers before marrying Ray.

I KNOW she does, she's also very bright, but stuck in a situation she's not happy with, that's why she complains about everything, sell the house, get away from the in laws and get a job and put those boring kids in daycare right away!

I didn't know about her degree! Thanks for the info:)
I think that she should get a good job.Her attitude
would change for the better.I agree that they should
move away. What's the point to stay there anymore?
First,it was funny. Now,Marie is getting too personnal
with Debra. The jokes go too far sometimes.

I DON'T LIKE THAT CELINE, is the way Marie would probably answer you!

The series should end that way:Ray is getting a
better job in another city.Debra and him had to move.
I know Marie won't like that idea but,that's life:talk:

Are you kidding, Marie would just die if that happened! I've been thinking a lot about this show lately as i watch the reruns on many stations and i still say i would have divorced Debra by now, she was so annoying in the earlier shows. Now it's that brother, who would tolerate a brother like that who is overjoyed at anything bad that happens to you? I would have banned him from the house, and don't they have locks for those doors? William Pailey, former board chairman of CBS must be turning in his grave as he used to say you need likeable characters on a show, are any of these characters likeable? The writers have to let them have some redeeming qualities now and then or we will just end up HATING all the characters on this show.

You're right!Moving won't be the best solution.Divorce
must be the best way for Debra and Ray.Their relationship
is getting worst and worst years. That's what Marie was
trying to do from the begining anyway and she always get
what she want;)

The characters are not likable anymore,it's true...
Ray used to be so funny now he's just boring.
Debra used to be happier now she too cranky.
Marie is basically the same...That's what I like about her:)
Frank was funny and he still is:)
Robert was hilarious now his Ray's jalousie give him a sad personality.

Great, i was worried about the reaction i was going to get with my remarks, i find that when you see a gem like the one with the cannister, then their little quicks work for them, but when the subject is dull, the whole show sinks. The whole point is to see them act normal or sensitive at least once in a while like when Marie actually apologized about the cannister and the father covered for Debra, those priceless moments humanize the characters and make them real, if they're just always annoying, we'll stop watching.
