While this drama is a little more intense and talky than I usually care to watch at 10 PM on a Friday night (when my brain is on "wind-down" from the hectic work week and is looking for something less taxing and more fun), it IS a well-done, well-written program...and Steven is EXCELLENT in it!

I was disappointed to discover that it's not really "Steven's show"....He's not the main, central character (like Tony Shalhoub is in "Monk"), but rather part of an ensemble...a very IMPORTANT part, but a PART nonetheless.

What I like about Steven's portrayal in "The D.A." is that he gives his character those excellent multi-dimensional layers that we've come to expect from Steven.....

His character is an obnoxious, egoccentric little S.O.B. one minute and a man of justice who wants to do the right thing the next. Yes, he's doing a fine job on this show.

If you missed the first installment, you may want to check out the next episode...but I warn you, it isn't a light "fluffy" show. It makes "The Practice" look like an episode of "Full House"!

Pilotguy, I TIVO'd the episode and just watched it. Overall, for this type of drama I think it was pretty well done. I noticed Gill Garcetti (the LA District Attorney back in the OJ trial days) helped with the show. I kind of felt like Steven's character was based on him a little.

I must confess I was having trouble adjusting to Steven as the character. When he went into his first tirade I kept waiting for the punch line and expecting him to do a "Brian Hackett" twist with it. I still think his strength is comedy. At least that is how I most enjoy watching him perform. But bias or not, I agree, I think he did a really good job.

I had taped it and watched it at about midnight on Friday night, and you're right- it's not the late-friday-night type of show. hehe. but I actually thought it was a really good show.

My first impression of Steven's character on the show was, "wow, what a jerk!"But as I watched the show, I realized what a multi-dimensional character he was, and how well Steven was doing of portraying these multiple dimensions.

and yes, I do agree with you, losthighway- I wish we could see Steven Weber in another comedy role. But I do think he's doing a great job on "The D.A."
