During the 1977-78 season, the show was MOVED to Satudays Nights and the show PLUNGED all the way to 63rd Place. But a quick move back to Thursday Nights in between Welcome Back Kotter and Carter Country, the show was able to make a minor comeback and finish the 77-78 TV season ranked #41. This was the only TV season that the show did not finish in the Top 30. After 76-77season, the show ranked #25 and after the 78-79 season the show ranked #28.

I think the network tried to bury the show.

That just makes you realize how good All in the Family was since they were on Saturday nights for years and did well. On the flop side, What's Happening struggled with that time slot.

Well there is no disputing that All in the Family was a much better written show.

If the show was ranked 28, why did it get canceled?

Because the cast members were asking for more money and when they didn't get it, they were not interested in doing the show anymore. So it had nothng to do with the ratings.

I don't think a cast member can ask for a raise when a show finishes #28 in the ratings-LOL Maybe top 10 but definitely not top 30.
