Hi. I'm looking for a way to get my floppy disk to open. I saved important stuff on it back in 2001, and can't get it off now. I put t in and it says to format it , but doing so will make me lose whatever is on the disk which of course I don't want to do. Also it says preformatted on the disk itself, whatever that means! lol I even moved the little black switch up and down and tried it. Still nothing. I've pretty much tried everything. Anyways, can someone help? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

Oh and by the way, :help

try the disk in a different computer - if it still cant read it the disk is either blank or corrupted

If the data i sreally important, you can ship it to data recovery houses. Search google and you'll find quite a few.

ok thanks to the both of you. I tried it in two other computers and it says the same thing. So it might be blank. But that doesn't make sense cuz I KNOW there's stuff on there. I'll just try sending it out. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks a bunch! there is a good chance that the drive in your computer is bad, try write some other disks with it, and test them in other computers - if it doesnt work, go get a new floppy drive (they are CHEAP) or invest in a cd-burner (much more USEFUL)

Oh I tried to copy something else on it already. That was one of the hundred things I tried. Still doesn't work. I don't know that I have the money it takes to buy a new floppy drive or cd burner. So I'll just have to save up till I get my laptop. Thanks though.
