Throughout the run of Sanford and Son, there were two distinct opening themes. The first was video-taped in 1971. Does anyone know when the 2nd opening them was video-taped, or were both video-taped concurrently. Evidently, the opening and closing themes were filmed outside, does anyone know exactly where? Was it in an ouside studio, or was it on the actual and real S. Central Ave. in Watts with a building designed as Sanford and Son's home and salvage business to be specifically used for the opening and closing themes? A friend of mine back in the early 90's spent his honeymoon in L.A. & claimed he went to a wax museum near a studio somewhere and found either a replica or the actual set of Sanford and Son's living room with wax figures of Fred and Aunt Esther simulating an arguement while standing on the living room floor, maybe on that antique imitation persian rug. He says the theme song plays continuously in the background. He says he has photographs of this; however, he has yet to produce them. Does anyone know if there is any substance behind this. If so and if I could stand in front of that set, it would be hard pressed to get me out of there. 4 of the greatest sets ever on television, Fred's yard, Fred's living room, Fred's kithcen, and Fred's bedroom. Looking forward to responses & thank you.

If you search the archives on this board it was explained where the opening was shot. I do not believe it was on S. Central Ave. The show however must be considered one of the greatest in television history.
