With the exciting news that the great Sammy Hagar will reteam with Michael Anthony and the Van Halen brothers I was curious to hear from fellow Van Halen fans as to what their favorite VH albums are.

Here's mine:
1. 5150 (1986)
2. FOR UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE (1991)
3. FAIR WARNING (1981)
4. 1984 (1984)
5. BALANCE (1995)
6. VAN HALEN (1978)
7. OU812 (1988)
8. VAN HALEN II (1979)
9. VAN HALEN LIVE:RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW (1993)
-though VH are a great live band, I don't care too much for
live recordings
10. DIVER DOWN (1982)
11. WOMAN AND CHILDREN FIRST (1980)

and last of all...
12. VAN HALEN III (1998)

1. 1984
2. Van Halen
3. Van Halen II
4. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge
5. Diver Down

I used to love 5150 when I was younger, but now I can't stand it. A great Journey album, not so much a great Van Halen record (I know that 1984 was synth-heavy too, but Roth handled it differently)

has anyone heard Nerf Herder's song "Van Halen"?

I bought Van Halen I, it was the best damn record I ever had
TG&Y, 1978
Two hand tapping guitar technique really got me off
Eruption yeah, ain't talkin' 'bout love, I'm on fire

Tomorrow may come
Tomorrow may never come again
Can't you hear Jamie cryin?
She's runnin' with the devil

I bought Women and Children First
Fair Warning and Van Halen II
Dance the night away
1984 my favorite record yeah I wore it down
Might as well jump

Tomorrow may come
Tomorrow may never come again
Can't you hear Jamie cryin?
She's runnin' with the devil

is this what you wanted, Sammy Hagar?
Sammy Hagar, is this what you wanted man?
Dave lost his hairline, but you lost your cool, buddy
Can't drive 55, I'll never buy your lousy records again, again, again, never again, never again

Tomorrow may come
Tomorrow may never come again
Can't you hear Jamie cryin?
She's runnin' with the devil
Jump jump jump jump jump jump jump, might as well jump

I know a number of people who feel the same way about 5150 as you do, but I still think it is a great album.

Fair Warning and Van Halen I

The worst Roth VH album is better than the best Hagar VH album.

Though I think Sammy is a good and talented guy.
It's just the Eddie of the time I'm considering.

well, if it's any consolation, I do think BEST OF BOTH WORLDS is definately in the top 3 best Hagar/VH songs IMO. I used to love WHY CAN'T THIS BE LOVE until the retro 80's station started playing the song as if it was an even bigger hit than JUMP (with Jump, you've come to expect the song to be played out). The couple of slower songs on the album are the ones that really date the album and make the album more Journey territory than what I think of when I think of Van Halen.

My top five:

1. Balance
2. F.U.C.K.
3. Van Halen II
4. 1984
5. Diver Down

By the way, Dukey, the Van Halen reunion rumors have not been confirmed. No word of it on either the band (http://www.van-halen.com) or Sammy (http://www.redrocker.com)'s official websites.

Here's what Van Halen News Desk (http://www.vhnd.com/articles/040219-01.shtml) has to say. More recently, they made this (http://www.vhnd.com/articles/040315-01.shtml) update.

I have been checking every Van Halen site I can think of for the past month now. I think it is a safe bet that Sam is back in the band though. I just wish they would confirm it. Also, it has really been left up in the air weather Michael Anthony is still in the band. I read an interview with Eddie either late last year or early this year in which he said that he had not talked with Mike in two years, which is pretty sad considering they have been bandmates for 30 years.
