My dad told me that there was another FOL-type show in 1979, on CBS, that had the same exact plot and premise. Does anyone know what the title was?

I remember reading about it......I can't recall the title. I think it's somewhere on the FOL Online Site.

I know it was called Social Studies, and it was like what would have happened if Blair had the Eastland spin-off at the end of the series.

I looked up the two starring actresses according to TJ's FOL site, and it's called "Dorothy". The Plot:

Dorothy Banks was an effervescent and somewhat liberated former Broadway showgirl who took a job teaching music and drama at the Hannah Huntley School for Girls, a somewhat old-fashioned institution in Connecticut. While some of the faculty (like French teacher Miss Cathcart and biology instructor Mr. Landis) found Dorothy's methods a bit off-putting, her students, including Meredith, Frankie, Margo and Cissy, thought she was wonderful. And a neat singer and dancer to boot.

The Plot was from the imdb

Yup, I have a TV Guide clipping announcing the show in 1979:

"Charlotte Rae, the housekeeper on Diff'rent Strokes, becomes a housemother at a girls' school in this four-week trial series. Sound similar to CBS' Dorothy? Yep, and, like it's video sibling, Facts will return next semester only if it gets passing Nielsen marks."

I always thought that kinda funny, cuz FOL sure didn't get "passing Nielsen marks" but it still came back, and became immensly(sp) popular at that (lol as if we all didn't know that) http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
