View Full Version : Back pain...
ConservativeBalla 03-16-2004, 09:34 AM ...What does everyone do for back pain? Every once in a while, I get this bad pain in the lower back, on the left and right side of my lower back. It REALLY sucks, because it forces me to stop playing basketball and come here and talk politics all day ( ;) ) . I know all of you like my insightful commentary on politics (like that fine portrait over there to the left), but I can't be here all the time. Anyway, I take basic aspirin and use "Theragesic", but does asnyone else have any OTHER suggestions?
Moonlight Lady 03-16-2004, 11:29 AM I take a couple Ibuprofen and then soak in a hot bath. That usually helps me. That's where my pain is usually, the lower back.
Titania 03-16-2004, 05:04 PM I do yoga and pilates to stretch and help my back.
(hey and I like that portrait in your avatar! :p )

Same here. It feels really good to stretch out the muscles. Also, I just lay flat on my back and bring my knees into my chest. That helps flatten the back more.

Ahh. It's John Kerry. He frightens me. :o
Bang A Gong 03-16-2004, 06:25 PM I get lower back pain really bad... so bad that I can't even function. Even when I lay down, it feels like it's killing me. I have had it for the past 3 days.
Do you have any prescription pain killers like hydrocodene? That stuff really helps. Or you could just use a heating pack or an ice pack, but medication is your best bet.

I LOVE it too!
My grandpa and my dad have back pain all the time... they just usually take pain killers and relax. It's not all the time, just occasionally.
Fleet 03-17-2004, 12:33 AM I've had back pain a few times. Luckily it was temporary.
There's not much you can do to avoid it...
- Don't bend at your waist; use your knees.
- Don't engage in back-stressful sports, like football.

I hurt my back from a fall at work, I've been seeing a chriopractor who really helped me. I don't take regular medicine cause they don't help, she gave me herbal pills for muscle spams, they are excellent, after that my back pain went away. I am starting to have pain again, so it's time for those pills, I only take them as needed. They're great.
I would use ice and heat, heat can sometimes make you hurt more.

Yeah, my father always tells me to lift with my knees when I lift something. And yes, every time I play football at my church, my back ends up hurting.
Well, I don't want to take prescription drugs or herbal drugs because I don't want to even tempt myself and take a chance getting addicted.
So, Ibuprofen and then soak in a hot bath; stretch out the muscles; lay flat on back and bring knees into chest; heating pack or an ice pack; take pain killers and relax.
Thanks, everyone.

Feel better.
IMO there's only so much Ibuprofen will do. I have found after awhile, I seem to grow immune to it, it doesn't help, I say herbal is the best, and I haven't known anyone who has gotten addicted to them :)

You can have a skinny female walk on it for you.-LOL
MandieR1980 03-17-2004, 06:09 PM I do nothing and hope it goes away. I can't take any pain medications except Tylenol because of my surgery. No asprin products allowed. Tylenol does nothing for me so I don't even bother.

You do have a point. I read somewhere that in most cases, back pain goes away within a week whether you do something about it or not. The last time I had back pain, which was relatively slight, I did nothing about it except watched how I moved (no bending) and it went away in about 3 days.

:rotflmao: Thanks for making my day SOLOMON.
Hollow 03-17-2004, 10:41 PM i hate it when i need to pop my back. i never succeed.
ConservativeBalla 03-18-2004, 09:19 AM Should I or should I NOT pop my back with this pain? There's two different pops; one when I'm sitting and I move my upper body to the far left and right, and the other is when I'm standing and I bend my back way back. Are those bad for my back?
