View Full Version : Has anyone ever had someone contact them about a trade and the person who contacted
TVFactFan 03-15-2004, 05:55 PM you actually has something you need so yall talk about the possible trade and then all of a sudden you hear nothing else from the person in 7 days? That's so damm annoying. Here is a message for all traders-IF YOU HAVE A BUSY WORK SCHEDULE PLEASE DON"T NOT CONTACT ME ABOUT A TRADE. Like agent13 said Cmm is important when doing a trade. I don't want to hear from a trader ONCE a week because you had a busy work schedule.
nannyfan 03-17-2004, 01:56 AM I agree that I get frustrated with waiting...but - sometimes it is worth the wait! What I don't like is when someone has a new excuse every week for why they haven't sent your stuff. I understand that stuff comes up - but - people should be upfront if you will have to wait a long time for their stuff. I would like to be the one to make the decision on whether I want to wait 2 months for something or if I would prefer to move on and find it somewhere else. Especially if I have sent the person money and they keep sending me a million excuses for why my stuff isn't ready yet. Especially when I was brand new and buying lots of stuff from several people - I waited, and waited, and waited, on some people. I've heard - what I believe to be - "every excuse in the book"
Like I said, if you wanna trade - but, know it will take you 2 months to ship, be honest up front and all will be well:wave:
Just my 2 cents:happyface

tdubel 03-17-2004, 12:01 PM Solomon,
You have to remember that some people's work schedule involves flying throughout the country and world(mine!) Therefore, it is easy to communicate via email most of the time, but getting tapes/dvds done in a week is a different story. I know this is not an issue between us, I am just commenting in general.

One of my traders answers emails about once per week, too. I mean, even for a simple "yes" or "no" question. I think part of it is that he's behind, so he's trying to drag things out a bit so he doesn't seem behind.
If this is a sudden thing, perhaps something's wrong. I am prone to migraines, which last for days. During those times, I tend to either be very brief with emails and/or wait too long to answer, too.
If this is a chronic problem with a particular trader, maybe you could suggest that he answer your question asap so the two of you can get the ball rolling.

tdubel 03-18-2004, 12:16 PM Agree with both of you, I am swamped right now as Agent 13 knows, I hope I don't take too long this time!!! (Have bus. travel the next 2 weeks, so weekends are day in day out taping, but this weekend have to be in NYC). I will get it done!

People should be upfront. Sometimes servers goes down.
pc crash. When it happens with me. Not often. I go through old post to track down their email address.
When I m late. As nannyfan know from previous trades. I email to keep someone posted as to whats goin. Also I add extras for the delay. Nannyfan's tapes I must say, are always mint condition too.
:D
nannyfan 03-21-2004, 03:14 AM Thanks for the reference cp32!
cp32 sends really cool extras, too:cool:
Besides keeping in touch...being honest is nice, too. I hate getting a string of excuses from someone for being late. I understand everybody is busy with work and all - so no need to send me lots of sappy excuses. Unless, of course, you are one of those people that have a permanent rain cloud over your head and everything always goes wrong. Bottom line, keep in touch and if you know up front it is going to take a while - let the person know so they can make the decision on if they want to wait. That way you won't have someone mad at you 'cause you are taking too long.

Because I collect shows mostly before 1980, most of the people I trade with are more mature, so this is less of a problem for me personally. I have found that many times the younger the trader, the more likely they are to give continual excuses.
Jen
