Former NFL lineman Parrish dead at 35

DALLAS (March 14, 2004) -- Former NFL lineman James Parrish, who spent time with 10 different teams, has died after a lengthy illness. He was 35.
Parrish, who lived in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, died Wednesday at Medical City Dallas Hospital, according to Cathy Pietzsch of Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano.
He had been diagnosed with terminal cancer last year.
The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive tackle out of Temple began his pro career in 1992 with the Miami Dolphins. He would go on to spend time with Indianapolis, San Diego, San Francisco, Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the New York Jets, Chicago and Kansas City.
He was a member of two teams that went to the Super Bowl -- the 1994 Cowboys, who beat Buffalo; and the 1996 Steelers, who lost to Dallas.
When Parrish left football, he retired to the Dallas area and worked in finance.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; two young children; and his mother and stepfather.
Memorial services were scheduled for Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano. His funeral will be next week in Baltimore.
