View Full Version : Pick one Sitcom from the 70's that you think is AWFUL and give a reason why
TVFactFan 03-13-2004, 06:26 PM I would have to say the Sitcom Grady It was a short-lived spinoff from Sanford and Son. I guess it was not entertaining because Grady was not funny on Sanford and Son and to have a episode revolve him for 30 min was HARD TO WATCH.
dawsongirl 03-13-2004, 11:13 PM Three's Company. I just don't find that slapstick, ridiculous humor funny anymore.
Brian 03-13-2004, 11:17 PM The last season of Chico and the Man. What a mess. No Freddie Prinze Sr. and the addition of Charo and and her constant "goochie-goochies" were annoying plus the kid was nowhere near as good as Freddie was. I mean what were they thinking? They should have cancelled the show after the third season. Other than the fourth season, I like the show.

I didn't like CATM, ED was Cranky and Boring. Cranky and Boring is a bad combination. Unlike Archie who was Cranky and Entertaining

I didn't find him boring, but Archie was better.

I find Chico funnier than Ed. He had a lot of charisma. I laughed every time Chico told Ed, "Ees not my job."

Well the 8 eps i watched, Chico wasn;'t funny. I guess i have to see more.
dandelion wine 03-14-2004, 12:31 AM The only one that comes to mind right now is The Love Boat. When I was a kid, I loved it. But it's worn very thin over the years, and now it's just complete cheese - nowhere near as entertaining as I once thought it was.
Jrnygrl 03-14-2004, 12:38 AM "Phillys" the spinoff of Mary Tyler Moore, Cloris Leachman was great when she was paired with Valerie Harper and the way they would verbally spar with each other, this was lost on her own show because the characters didn't really seem to gel like Mary Tyler Moore, and they seemed to rewriter her character, from the upstanding women's liber to a weak needy woman.

Oh I know, they tried to us the theme song from the musical "Maime". It was just awful all around.

The only thing you heard through the entire theme song is "Phyllls, Phyllis"-LOL

I say HAPPY DAYS. I never really understood what was so hilarious about it or why it was so 'cool.' Fonzie annoys the hell out of me, and I can't stand any of the other characters except for Marion Cunningham. I think that its spin-off LAVERNE & SHIRLEY was infinitly more funnier.
Brian Damage 03-14-2004, 12:34 PM The 70's was such a great decade for sitcoms. Good Times, What's Happening, The Jeffersons, All in the Family, The Odd Couple. I guess I'll agree with little insomniac and say The Love Boat....Totally CHEESE!
Oh, there was plenty of bad show in the 70's,like "Out Of The Blue," a horrible sitcom about an angel who comes to earth to do good deeds. They did a crossover ep with Happy Days, to introduce the lead character, but for some reason, his series was set in the 70's.
Stooooopid!
;)

Yeah whem Mork ad Mindy crossed over with Happy Days atleast it was mentioned that Mork TRAVELED BACK TO THE 50's-LOL I guess they forgot to mention that when Out of the Blue crossed over with Happy Days
Lady T 03-15-2004, 03:26 AM I agree with Kate with The Love Boat...For some odd reason I have about five seasons worth of this God Awful show on tape and I watched some of the episodes; the worst acting I have ever seen...Annoying characters and major boring has beens making guest appearances because they need to pay their gas bills...Utter Crap...And what the hell was the deal of the ladies find that gross idiot Doc attractive..I would had run the other direction if that dog was hitting on me...

I kinda like LB, but you gotta wonder about a show when they have Robert Goulet and Richard Dawson guest starring and they let Richard sing and not Bob.
