LOST IN THE 70'S

This thread is for me and my friends @ SO!

I always wished I was born in the 70's so I could have been old enough to enjoy the 80's and remember it more.

Holy smokes, MEEE TOOO. Sometimes I think it would be pretty decent to be born in the mid to late 60s so I could be a youngster in the 70s and be in high school in the early to mid 80s. But I think being born IN the 70s would have probably been the way to go.

Me too!

I want to have been born in about 1963, so that I would remember the beginning of "The Carol Burnett Show" when it debuted in 1967...and be old enough to remember when the first "The Family" sketch aired...then I would have started HS in 1977 and finish by 1981...That would be SOOOOO cool. Then I would have been almost 20 by the time "Mama's Family" debuted in 1983.

Man....that would have been SOOOOO cool. But I guess I'm happy with being born when I was...I have a few memories of when "Mama's Family" was still on, in its syndicated run...But still, you can't beat having been born in the 60's...

YE-EAH! Actually, when I was watching Mama's Family last night, I was thinking, "Rats, I wish I could have been watching this when it was originally on in 83, and be around Sonya's age." And then I turned on VH1Classics during commercials and a couple videos happened to be from 82-83... made me feel a little disappointed I was born too late.

I would have definitely been watching Carol Burnett when it was orginally on! I guess I really think about being born in the 60s more than the 70s. Heck, I'd take either decade over being born in the 80s!

Ohhh yeah. That would be perfect. We'd still be pretty young in the 80's, so that wouldn't be so bad! :D

*sigh* I'm such a sucker for the 70's and 80's. Being born in the 60's would make it even more perfect. :D

You have to go to the PO and ask for IRC's (International Reply Coupons). I think they cost money, tho. :(

Try this one address for her.

c/o Mercury Records Nashville
54 Music Sq E Ste 300
Nashville TN 37203-4386

Or you could write to her via venue...I hear she's better through a venue...

PZelda
03-13-2004, 06:18 PM
Right now, Shania is doing a bunch of concerts overseas...but the next time she's back in the US will be when she does a concert in Florida on April 13th...I'll get an address for you...

PZelda
03-13-2004, 06:20 PM
Try something like:

Shania Twain
Via Venue
201 E. Gregory Street
Pensacola, FL 32501

If you send a letter to her via venue, you would get a reply faster.

I had a headstart with my Vicki collection last year...I now have 20 Vicki tapes...mostly in SLP format (so that's more than 100 hours' worth of Vicki  ), and a whole bunch of Carol Burnett crap where she's in it..Jon got a headstart on the Columbia House DVD's, though. Oh man, I can't wait to get the 7th volume DVD...

Episode 1 - Guest Stars: Roddy McDowall * Bernadette Peters - Aired: March 17, 1975: Three actors played Eunice's brother in "Family" sketches: Roddy McDowall, Tom Smothers and Alan Alda (a fourth brother, Vinton, was played by Ken Berry in the spinoff series, Mama's Family). This eight-season show marks the second of Roddy's three appearances as Philip, a Nobel-Prize winning writer whose success is lost on Eunice (Carol), Ed ( Harvey Korman) and Mama (Vicki Lawrence). Roddy also appears in one of the series' sharpest movie parodies, "The Lady Heir", a terrific take-off on The Heiress. The episode's other guest star, Bernadette Peters, sings "All That Jazz", appears with Carol in a bit about typists who are the same type and joins the company for the mini-musical Paris finale (featuring the songs of Fiddler on the Roof composers Harnick and Bock).

Episode 2: Guest Star: Betty White - Aired: November 22, 1975: Betty White (Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) plays Eunice's sister Ellen, in another classic "Family" sketch. Old resentments and painful revelations are hopping as the sisters "help" Mama clean up the attic - and - Ellen tells Eunice what became of her beloved pet rabbit, Fluffy. Betty, later one of the stars of NBC's Golden Girls, also appears with Carol in a sketch about two former cheerleaders attending a "Class of '32" reunion. She then joins Carol, Harvey, Vicki and Tim Conway in a tribute to the Ziegfield Follies. During her monologue, Carol introduces Betty's husband, Password host Allen Ludden, who is sitting in the audience (Ludden and White had appeared as themselves in the classic Password episode of The Odd Couple.)

In the first one, Vicki is more than 7 months pregnant...She's HUGE, and it's really hard for her to act as Mama in this one.

One way to tell what part of 1977 it was is to look at Vicki's tummy in the episodes...She was pregnant on TCBS the whole time and gave birth in July 1977....If her tummy is flat, then she already had her child...

I know TV Land is worse than TBS...I have a compliant (sp?) about how TBS airs MF though...they don't show the original 1983 and 1984 opening credits on MF...They air all the episodes, EXCEPT FOR ONE...and they air the episodes out of order, too. :cuss:
