Iola came up right at the start of the syndicated years. I don't think she was ever mentioned in the NBC years, but I do think that the Boylen family was mentioned as living across the street. I am not 100% sure on that though, but I think so.

Buzz had a friend named Tommy Boylen and he lived across the street. I don't know what relation he was to Iola though. He was never mentioned on the syndicated episodes, heck Buzz was hardly even mentioned.

Yeah, and remember that Thelma mentioned Mrs. Boylen(Iola's mother) a couple times on the NBC shows, like when Mama is learning to drive and she takes Fran's car, yelling "Hey Miss Boylen, you want to see me burn rubber?":D

Yes, lol. Wasn't Ms. Boylen taking out the trash? In syndication she was an invalid of course, and I think Iola said she'd been like that for years.

In "The Return of Leonard Oats" Mama says that Ms. Boylen thinks her hair is naturally curly.

Will have to go back and re watch them I am sure there was one episode where momma tells Vint if he remembers Iola Boylen liking him, before she ever appeared on the show.

Production-wise perhaps, but chronologically, her first appearance is "Farewell Frannie". :)
