I've managed to lose 28 pounds already this year. Wow. I can't believe it but it seems that hard work does pay off if you really try.

I've had a weight problem since my early teens, I got bullied in high school and dropped out, and after I just went from bad to worse with my weight and got really big. But now after years of just putting weight on it's actually dropping off. I'm amazed, I never thought I would be able to do it but if I keep going this way I'll be a decent size by the summer. All I've done is cut out all the crap (chocolate, sweets, cakes, big fatty meals etc) and exercise a little and it's working really well...good thing too because I can't follow diet plans for the life of me. I know I would never be able to last on the Atkins diet.

Is anyone else on a diet right or weight loss crusade right now? Maybe we could use this thread to support each other and offer advice, ideas etc...

I've lost 70 pounds since last May (the 10th the be exact). I have a broken right ankle right now so I haven't been able to keep on my schedule and I've gained back 4 pounds. I don't expect the change to be dramatic because I'm going right back to my normal routine as soon as I'm done not being able to walk.

I keep my fat intake as low as possible, I drink gallons of water (I almost gag from drinking so much water) and I walk 3 or 4 miles every day. Normally (with a broken ankle I don't). I eat Special K for breakfast, salads for lunch and usually whatever I want (as long as it's not a Whopper or anything) for dinner. If I want candy/sweets I eat Good n Plenty's (fat free) or candy cigarettes (also fat free).

I did go walk yesterday - I walk at our mall. I walked 2 laps (1 mile) using my crutches. I did'tn walk fast and it wasnt' easy but I was thrilled to have done it.

I've gone down 6 pant sizes since I started this and I can't wait until I can ALWAYS shop in the regular clothes section. I do for some things now :)

Good luck as you continue. I don't find it as hard as people say - I just miss my walking and making myself feel like I'm working towards something. Come April, I'm right back at it!

Congrats guys!!! :woohoo:

God damnit! Ive been on my lil health kick for a month now and Ive lost about 4-5 pounds (Im guessing) if anything. I have given up soda completely, stopped eating past 8 pm, and cut back majorly on fats, carbs, and sugars. WTF?!?! I was also going to the gym everyday for a while. I stopped going last week though because it got boring :o. Youd think me changing my eating habits that drastically wouldve made a bigger difference. :cuss:

That cracked me up. You sound just like me.

FIRST WEEK: "Oh yeah! I'm going to the gym! I'm making a commitment to go there and exercise every week and I'm sticking to it!"

SECOND WEEK: "Oh wow, I have had so many vigorous work outs at the gym. I'm psyched! I'm all for this!"

THIRD WEEK: "Um... this is getting boring."

FOURTH WEEK: "Eh, screw this."

FIFTH WEEK: *Lying in disgusting pile of Krispy Kreme donuts, fried chicken, potato chips, and microwavable pretzels* "Yuck, I feel so disgusting. I mean, this food is good and all. Next week. I swear, next week, I will start going to the gym and I will make a plan and stick to it and get healthy! WOO!"

::rofl: Aaaahahaha, that describes me to a T!

For the first 2 weeks I was so strict with myself when it came to the gym and eating. Hell, Id feel so guitly about eating certain things that I was beginning to get worried that Id get some eating disorder. Meangya, did I get over that one fast. I still feel guilty when I indulge myself in something 'bad', and Im disappointed with myself that I got tired of the gym, but atleast Im eating better. The only thing @ the gym I liked was the treadmill, and believe me- walking in place for an hour gets pretty damn boring!

I'm trying to drop a few pounds for a few events in April and May.
Now that the weather is getting warmer, I will go back to riding my bike or walking in the park on weekends and after work.

I do watch what I eat and work out with weights, but getting that heartrate up and sweating really burns the calories.

I'm TJL, fitness guru to the stars!

me too...I weight like 98 lbs and all I eat is junk. I can't gain weight, but I don't have muscles either so I've started going to the gym and doing aerboics and yoga/pilates.

Congrats!

I think most diet plans are a crock anyway. Good nutrition and exercise is the best way to lose weight.

I remember candy cigs! We used them in a school play once.

Twizzlers are low in fat too.

I'm 104 pounds, FAT. I want to get down to 95 pounds, then I'll be happy.

Then again there's not point since I'm just going to stop eating, there's nothing to eat anymore. I don't care about getting thinner. My heart will probably give out kinda soon, oh wellllll.

Today was starving day one.

you know soda makes you eat more because the gas expands your stomach and the caffeine makes you hungry too. That is why I'm no longer allowed to drink soda since the surgery or anything with caffeine

It is the only vice I have left, since I quit smoking and drinking a long time ago..I usually have one soda a day...and usually without the caffeine:)

Actually it fills me up and wards off hunger pains so I don't eat more.

Plus, if I dropped caffeine, I'd have a damn headache.

I used to drink 21 cans of Pepsi per week. Couple years back I gave it up.....it was hard at first but after awhile I didn't miss it much, if at all. I may have one can if I go to a movie theater but otherwise it's water and when I head to the gym, it's 32 oz. of Gatorade. I don't think it really comes from gators though. ;)

Congratulations on the weight loss to everyone. It's tough but becomes easier once your stomach starts to shrink.

More bread for me. Bread is the one thing I have not and will never be able to ban from my diet. I LOVE the stuff. I'm such a bread fiend, I'll eat about any kind, I adore it. Italian and French breads are the best. My gosh they are GORGEOUS.

If you've had a French stick directly from France, even better, while being IN France, it is the best. Mmmmmmmmm. The French sticks they sell over here in the supermarkets aren't quite as special.

Ew. I could never do that. A few years ago, I used to have 4-6 cans of soda every day...Or I would have two 20-oz bottles of soda...But now I can't do that anymore...One can of soda is more than enough for me. :)
