View Full Version : Funny Story
Sitcomwriter 03-08-2004, 05:24 PM This Friday, my younger brother's school dance will feature a performance by a "major artist" That's because a radio station will be there. Well, anyway, the tickets were selling like crazy and they finallly announced the performer today and they gave one clue: She Bangs. Anyway, my brother instantly thought "Hung.... awesome" and then they announced that it was Ricky Martin and my brother claims that everybody in his classroom was like "Dammit! Why couldn't it have been William Hung". I don't know. I thought it was funny .
TheHappyBurgerMeister 03-08-2004, 09:22 PM LMAO! That is funny! I feel bad for Ricky Martin because he's the one who sings that song but William Hung is more popular than he is now! That's too cute.

I know that William Hung is now aka the "She Bangs" man!! Funny!! :happyface
phoebe7165 03-09-2004, 04:14 PM OMG, that is so, so sad. I'd hate to see how many people demanded a refund when they found out Ricky was performing and not William!
Cashodeen 03-09-2004, 11:18 PM rotfl. The clue should have been "Living La Vida Loca." At this point in time, everyone associates "She Bangs" with Hung.
Brian 03-09-2004, 11:23 PM I remember watching William Hung's AI3 audition. I had no idea what she was singing until someone here mentioned that it was Ricky Martin. I would have demanded a refund myself. Cashodeen was right. It should have been "Living La Vida Loca" because that song is the one that Ricky Martin is most popular for.
EricIdlefan 03-10-2004, 12:42 AM I would want my money back as well though I will give him the credit of being graceful and nice about his dismissal or is he dismissed!!

Dean Winchester 03-10-2004, 07:19 PM I feel sorry that people hate Ricky Martin so much now, a few years ago he was being hyped as the Latin Elvis, LOL

You hardly ever hear from him these days!!
Janice Johnson 04-29-2004, 09:25 AM If the school said" The famous Janet and Michael duo are coming!" And then when the students come, they realize that it is another Janet and Michael, Janet Smith and Michael Washington from New York's Broadway theatre!;) :) (there really is no Janet Smith and Michael Washington that i know of, it was just hypothetical.

And the Knack were the new Beatles. We know know, of course, that Ricky Martin was a Latin Fabian (note tense), and that the Knack were a bunch of scumbags who never should have been allowed in a recording studio!

Whoa, are you serious? Was the Knack really being hyped as "the next Beatles?" They were before my time, and I never heard that. I know Oasis was being hyped as "the next Beatles."

Unfortunately, I am. Capitol promoted them as a new Beatles, with liner notes from their debut LP ripped off from those that graced the back cover of Meet the Beatles. The title of that album was another Meet the Beatles ripoff - Get the Knack.
Cactus Jack 04-30-2004, 08:02 AM LOL at the story

That is just sad and wrong. I can't believe how there have been bands in the past actually being hailed as "the next Beatles." Funny how they all fizzle out rather quickly. Well... we all knew they were never going to come close, and the comparison has always been and always will be completely riduculous.
