I dont really think any of them were very big stars before Cheers.
But if you do know what they did before.... share with the rest of us.

View Full Version : Who had the most success BEFORE the show?? barwars 03-05-2004, 09:49 PM I dont really think any of them were very big stars before Cheers. But if you do know what they did before.... share with the rest of us. Teddy02 03-06-2004, 12:13 AM before cheers all of them were like nothing. lol cheers made them!!! that's why i really like how grateful ted is to cheers i mean come on they really wouldn't have gotten anywhere if cheers hadn't come along NORM 03-06-2004, 02:25 AM Colasanto was. Director an actor. I'd also say Ted. Everyone else did stuff aswell before though. George and Shelley were both members of the Second City, very funny. Rhea had played Louie's gal on Taxi. Kirstie ahd been in a Star Trek film. John worked over in Europe on some comdies and films. As I recall I think Cheers was Harrelson's first work. And Kelsey I'm not sure on. Bebe was doing the broadway and theatre thing. But I'd say Nick Colasanto. NORM 03-06-2004, 02:26 AM Oh and Tim I like how you put "and George Wendt" nice touch :) lol barwars 03-06-2004, 11:22 AM Originally posted by NORM Oh and Tim I like how you put "and George Wendt" nice touch :) lol I would've put him as the first selection. But "and George Wendt" sounds so much cooler. Brian Damage 03-06-2004, 12:52 PM I voted Ted. I saw him do a few things before Cheers aired. Ria 03-06-2004, 12:55 PM According to something I read and/or saw, they had a hard time casting Ted b/c he had done something for the network that totally bombed and was associated with that, so I don't know how successful he is. I would say Nick Colasanto on the merit of his directing or Bebe b/c she had already won a Tony by the time she started Cheers (Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 1986 for Sweet Charity). NORM 03-07-2004, 07:04 PM Ted did commercials and stuff. He was eventually cast on this one series that failed and the network blamed Ted. When it came time to cast for Cheers Ted was seen as someone to not even be considered. But obviously things did a 180 for Danson and he became Sam Malone, the character that everyone knows and loves. "Yea I said it. I guy can love another guy without being the kinda guy that loves other guys" -Sam Malone treky 03-25-2004, 03:50 AM Nick Colasanto both acted & directed a lot in the 70s, Bebe Newurth acted a lot on Broadway (and still does), Kellsy Grammer used to be on a soap opera before "Cheers", Kirstie Alley did a lot of plays and was in one of the "Star Trek" movies (she played Lt. Savick in "Star Treck 2" and was going to revise the role in 6 but, unfortunetaly, didn't:( ), George Wednt was with the "Second City" comedy troupe, Rhea Perlman played Louies girlfreind, Zena, on a few episodes of "Taxi" (which, for it's last season, was on right after "Cheers" on Thursdays), and as for the others, I don't know. |
