I recieved an email today, supposedly from Yahoo! Staff that read like this:

Hello user of Yahoo.com e-mail server,

Our antivirus software has detected a large ammount of viruses
outgoing
from your email account, you may use our free anti-virus tool to
clean up
your computer software.

Further details can be obtained from attached file.

Have a good day,
The Yahoo.com team
http://www.yahoo.com

I went to download the attachment it gave, and my anti-virus software warned me that it had a virus(Beagle something), so beware.

Apparently this is going around everywhere. Someone on another board said they got a similar message from EBay with the virus in it. It's coming from all the big ISP's apparently.

Ugh... I hate Computer viruses!

I want to just put everyone who made a virus in a room together and blow it up.

I really expect something like that soon. My one account is all :censored: up now. And :censored:...I open Kazaa and there's a bunch of crap in my shared folder. Porno, programs...I get rid of it and it comes back. I DID NOT DL THIS CRAP AND I DO NOT WANT IT. I use the damn thing once in a blue moon and this is what happens.

Actually, my computer is acting all pissy too. And I got rid of the virus.

I do my best to keep my computer locked up. I know it can be more secure, I just don't have the fiscal resources to do so. Of course, why would anyone want into my old P3 Junker anyway?

This is a virus that is seeming to strike everywhere. I got one into my yahoo account and into my school account. I'd gotten it sent to me three times at my MSU email address.

Apparently what they do is they claim to be from the staff of your email provider (yahoo, hotmail, even msu.edu) with topics like "your email is in trouble" "important email info" or my favorite "your email will be shut down." Then you open it up and it says that this download will "get rid" of your virus. The minute you see that you need a password for it - DELETE IT! Of course, I didn't get the notice about the virus until after I opened it

Here are the links my school recommended to get rid of them:

Same here. Mine needed a password too. But it came from rottentomatoes.com.

never open any attachment unless it is something you are expecting from someone you know

no company ever sends out removal tools - they usually would tell you to go to their site and download a removal tool or patch

Same thing here. That email was from staff@yahoo.com I didn't get far enough to put in a password, I clicked the attachment, it said "contains virus"(because Yahoo! scans email attachments here) and that was when I closed the message and deleted it.

I once went on a site that was for football and got into a porno site and I tried to go back to the google.com site and I would love to block stuff like porno sites and/or any sites that have stuff like that because I have nephews and nieces who come over the house and play on the internet and/or video games and my parents don't need for them to download that stuff!!

That happened to my friend. All this porn came onto her computer and she can't get rid of it. Only it's not in Kazaa. But yeah.
