This is getting the best of my anger. The Cosby Show allready airs on WGN(2x a days). It also airs on TBS(2x a day). It airs on Nick @ Nite(4x a night). Now, it airs on TVLand(2x a night). I know this is only temporary, but why is there a big need to air his show all the time? Mr. Cosby, please stop buttering up these networks to air your lame show! I mean really, it is not all that funny. I would rather watch A Different World anyday over The Cosby Show. I think sometimes, these networks do it just to royally piss us off.

TBS- puke:
Nick @ Nite- puke:
Bill Cosby- puke:
WGN Superstation- puke:
TVLand- puke:

I agree that it is overplayed.
No show should ever air more than twice a day, unless its designed as a marathon, where the shows alternate either day to day or week to week.

But i DISAGREE that it is an unfunny show. I think its hilarious. If family sitcoms aren't your cup of tea -- then it makes sense that you wouldn't like it.
But as a fan of family sitcoms (AND workplace).... I believe nothing beats The Cosby Show.
Top-notch.
America's favorite overplayed family.... The Huxtables.

Watch ANY episode of the first 5 seasons and I dare you not to laugh. (Seasons 6-8.... as a fan myself I couldnt bare some of them)

No he's not, he does own some stock in the company, but for them to let that influcence them IMO makes them a really pathetic netowork. IMO the Cosby show needs a few years off the air!

I know, they used to use all their airtime to show a varitey of shows, instead of repeating the same ones from earlier in the night. :( IMO that's when the network started to go downhill.

If Bill Cosby wants to air his shows 24/7 then he should start his own network!

If tv land wants to air a Cosby show they should air the 1969-1971 Bill Cosby Show.

Well I really don't like the show because it has been overplayed. I used to like it, but now I don't. The Family Ties board stays angry about the way TV Land/N@N does with the Cosby Show v. Family Ties. I don't understand these people who would watch it all of those times in one day. I would like to meet one and just ask why???

I think they should just make a network and air nothing but Cosby Show 24/7. Then, they could take it off TBS, WGN, N@N, and TV Land(whew?). The show sucks because it is overplayed. I used to like it as well, but anything that is overplayed that much gets very old quickly.

About watching an episode of TCS and not laughing, is VERY possible. Family Ties and other family shows are much, much better than TCS. Putting TCS on TV Land was a bad move.

I also agree with you that TCS is NOT the best family show ever. And I can definately watch an episode and not laugh. TCS was really unrealistic in several ways. I don't remember a single time where Cliff and Clair even had a serious fight. A lot of the episodes were downright foolish (i.e. the episodes where the family pretended to sing to the grandparents for their anniverisary, Lamont the goldfish dying, etc.) And the last 2 or 3 years, the show was absolutely horrible. I just want to slap Denise and Venessa, and Olivia and all of that crap just wasn't good. Family Ties was much better, IMO. Other shows like Family Matters were also better.

Do you like to make up things without stating facts?

How many times do I have to tell you this? Bill Cosby has nothing to do what Nick@Nite, TV Land or what any other cable network does! He does NOT own any part of any network. This is entirely the programming department's decision. Bill is with Nickelodeon though, because he has deal with them to produce shows (Little Bill, Fatherhood), that's all it is! He has NO SAY in what to air and when to air things.

Just wondering if you have any facts that prove that he doesn't own either network, or doesn't have any say as to what is aired and what time etc.

I have told Sitcom Analyzer many times, that Mr. Cosby owning Nick@Nite or part of Nick@Nite is not true, that is all I was really saying. I like the Cosby Show, but I don't like all the airings either. It brings in ratings, so they air them a lot. That is how the industry works. If you don't pull in the ratings, you will be gone.

TBS/WGN has a different contract to air the show. Viacom has another contract to air the show (it seems Carsey-Werner likes doing duplicate contracts rather than the standard exclusive cable deal). Viacom airs it a lot because of one thing: RATINGS. Despite all these Cosby Show complaints, it is the highest rated show in Nick@Nite's history.

So do you think Roseanne (another Carsey-Werner product) has influence on Oxygen and Nick@Nite as well? Since they both air the show a lot. No star of any show has ANY influence on what or how many times a show airs on a cable network. That is what the cable network decides.

Hey.... Pav.... does that mean Carsey-Werner would be the company that makes the decision whether or not to release the show??

I think the overplaying has killed the show.
I still like it.... but I can definately understand why some people just dont give it a chance.

What do you mean by "release?" If you mean the cable deal, yes, they made the deal with Nick@Nite (and its sister Viacom stations).

My bad, I should've been more specific.
Im talking about any possible DVD release.
I love the first few seasons of both shows.... and would probably buy the last few seasons of both just for completeness.

Yes, they would have to make a deal to release it. Either release it themselves or let another company handle it, like Anchor Bay or Artisan.

Was Clair Huxtable ever wrong or admit to being wrong in any episode of TCS?

Regardless of who owns what or has the rights to release, make deals whatever, TCS is still overplayed. It may be a ratings grabber but if they pulled the plug on it for just 6 months and treated another show with the same respect as they do for TCS N@N might find that it is a ratings grabber also. Many shows were well liked in its day the way TCS was, but N@N has done crappy editing, little or way to late air plays for it to catch on and get the ratings that TCS does, if they aired it and others that have never seen an airing on N@N to know how it would rate. If N@N moved TCS show to 1 airing a night and moved it to 4:00 AM do you think it would still be the highest rated show on N@N? Treat TCS like crap just as they did with Coach, presently doing with Wings, Head of the Class, Family Ties, Facts of Life etc... and air it at an obscene hour and see if it gains as much recognition. It airs at midnight and for some people that is a convenient time to watch it, since not much else is on at the time of night, but 4 am is not quite as a convenient time to watch a show that may be very well liked and could easily give you high ratings.

I could be wrong but IMO if it was not aired with 2 hour blocks at the prime time and midnight hour it would not do as well.
I am in the CST so it comes on at 9-10 and 11-mid. wow those are the most convenient hours to watch TV not 3 or 4 am

I can't think of a single example. If she did, it was so rare that I don't remember any. She was always the best parent, best punisher, best wife, and best lawyer.

There were times when she was wrong, she wasn't about to admit it though. In my opinion she wasn't the best parent, unless you're just talking about TCS. If you're comparing her to others, I can think of better tv parents than her. One example, Elyse & Steven Keaton, another example Maggie & Jason Seaver, etc.

I know, you are right. Elyse and Steven and even Maggie and Jason were more real. They fought with eachother and made up and admitted when they were being wrong. TCS was just a fantasy family. Clair Huxtable seemed to think she was just so perfect.

I don't mind the cobsy show being on TV. I think they should cut it off nick at nite and TV Land. I can't belive Nick put cobsy show on TV Land and on Nick at nite. I seen couple episodes I think it wasn't to funny. Its ok show. I just don't know why its on TV So Much. I wonder if People who like cobsy show ever get tired of the show?
